Trip to New Zealand...?

At the end of July I am going to New Zealand for three weeks. What should I carry...I know it's winter but anything specific anyone knows of? Anything I need to watch out for? Just any advice would be helpful!

1) Take lots to do on the LONG plane ride.
2) Be friendly and open-minded toward the people there, for they are generally very friendly and hospitable.
3) Have fun!

Im from NZ. It all depends were going to. As you said its winter here so make sure you bring warm clothes! Theres not that much you should carry with you, were not a big country and nothing for you to watch out for. Were kind and helpful people and we will make you feel welcomed into our country.

hope you have fun here!

I reiterate that a warm jacket will be essential (in hte South Island in particular)....and other warm clothes.

Take lots of pictures!!!

The only comment I will make is that if you hire a car, make sure all the expensive things are out of sight as there can be car thieves out and tourists seem to be a good victim (having said that my car was broken into last year....grrr)

Apart from that you should find most people friendly and helpful and you should have a fantastic time.....I'm not sure where you are going, but its bound to be great!@

Hot water bottle, to keep you warm out night, coz its bloody freezing honey.......lol

Mr Mat NZ
Queens town is a great place 4 activitys like skiing and going on the luge and the gondala. Since your probably going to be landing in auckland you should check out Motat (historic areoplane place), the zoo, kelly tarltons, the muesum and definitly the skytower (tallest thing in southern hemishpere).
Wellingtons a very art and culture kind of place as well.

Winters arn'textremly cold... as in it almost never goes below zero. You should go on sum tramps as well -- like the abel tasman track near Nelson is a very buetiful but very easy track.

Yeah nz has got heaps of places to go to... the south island has some very beutiful sights. (like mt. cook).

(Yay for Hamilton! even though its boring )= )
*advice from a 3rd former*

Make sure you've got some warm clothes, especially a good jacket, gloves, etc! It's freezing!

Even though we are a fairly friendly and helpful bunch, we still have the odd idiot around who may try to take advantage...be sensible about your personal safety and the safety of your possessions. Don't leave valuables seen in your vehicle; and be sensible about being alone at night time.

NZ is generally a safe place for people to come; but don't assume there aren't weirdos out there!

Most of all; have a great time!
