I live in the US, and it's very nice in some places, but I'm not too sure about Oklahoma. I think that you would enjoy your time more in Brisbane than in Oklahoma. I feel that Oklahoma is a boring state--nothing special about it and the people there are very conservative Republicans. If you hate the cold, than you wouldn't want to spend the winter months in New York or Colorado, since those places snow a LOT during the winter, but they are very nice in the spring and summer. Florida is nice, you won't experience any cold there and you'll have a lot of fun, so that would be cool if you studied there, but they are also Republican down there, so you would probably only do good around the larger cities and tourist areas in Florida.
I don't know how Australia is doing, but the US is going through a very bad economic crisis and it's just getting worse so I think that may effect your mood if you decide to choose the US. Personally, I would choose Brisbane :) |

I'd go to Aus because I've always wanted to go there. I've been to America and the people are great but their government sucks, there are too many guns & gangs and if you get sick and can't afford medical help you have problems.
Besides when you are down under you could travel to a number of other countries. |

I'm from Brisbane and it's a lovely place. The weather is subtropical with very warm, wettish summers in which we get afternoon or evening thunderstorms which clear to sunny, fine days and a 3 month long warm, dry winter with sun and blue skies nearly every day. It's green and leafy with flowers all year around and beautiful parrots and other birdlife.
Brisbane itself doesn't have much in the way of beaches, but is only an hour away from some of the best beaches in the world on the Gold Coast to the south and the Sunshine Coast to the north. Greater Brisbane has a population of a bit under 2 million people spread over a very wide area and there is good nightlife, dining out and plenty of things for young people to do. It's also very safe and my young adult daughters have no reservations about moving around the city by themselves or in small groups at night, though of course they have to use normal commonsense - the place isn't totally crime free.
You'll find Brisbane in particular and Australia in general to be more liberal minded than Oklahoma or Florida. Everyone is welcome here and we don't care about anyone's race or ethnic background - over 26% of our population was born overseas. We also have a huge number of overseas students from every conceivable country and you'll find people everywhere to be very friendly and helpful.
Oh, and you CAN work legally on a student visa - 20 hours per week during the semester and unlimited hours in official vacation times. |

australia has a better exchange rate for the euro than the US dollar, that is, your euros are worth more A$ than US$ - if you need a deciding factor |

I like American living but there's no place like home so I'd say Australia. I'm from Melbourne but moved to Sydney years ago. So I called it home now. Brisbane is great too. The weather is fairly fine and temperature is usually a tad higher then Sydney. But the beach life of the two cities is pretty awesome in the same level. I think you'll be just fine there. |

I live in Denver, Colorado but I have been to Brisbane, Australia. It was only for one day, though, on a tour.
I liked Brisbane very much because it really seemed to have a lot of international "flavors." There were all kinds of people. I was there during their winter months and the weather was pleasant.
Oklahoma is very different from that - it is not known as a liberal place at all. It is interesting, though. You could meet cowboys and Indians. The winter weather can get cold and snowy.
Florida is not snowy in the winter, but it is hot and humid in the summer. It is also not known as a liberal place, except in some of the larger cities, like Miami.
My personal choice between those three would be Brisbane. I tend to be more of a liberal myself and I thought Brisbane was really interesting. |

Go for brisbane. Cheaper and safe, laid back, fun and lots of nice beaches in Australia, health ensured, compassionate, less chance of getting mugged, less confusing currency.
If you hate winter, brisbane has good winter, yes it is cold but not as cold as the US and the summers are unmissable. For a student budget, you're better off in Australia (the government is better) |

Oklahoma does get cold l can assure you but Brisbane never does it is a mild climate all year round although you have to contend with rainy season as in any sub tropics.
At present it is the place to live in Austral ia is but remember if you intend to work you have to get a work permit for the States and Australia. If studying that is different, but you cannot work on a study visa although l did in London as am both British Citizen and Australian and not many places check on you but they will in the US and Australia have strict policies.
It is completely up to you as petrol or gas as it is called in the States is cheaper than Australia, most things are relatively cheaper in the States but with the economy if you are coming from Europe to Australia you will do well with our dollar unlike the opposite if we travel we get little for the Aus dollar.
Have good look at both Countries re travel brochures etc there is so much to see in Australia that is unique only to this Continent and the lifestyle in Brisbane is lay back and friendly.
Florida is great depending where you are going to live as if in Miami it has the highest crime rate than any other City than Washington and New York so watch that.If l you love the ocean and love to swim both are great although Miami is not cheap.
Good luck |
