It depends what you are after. My UK friends that have moved here love it and alternate their weekends between scuba diving and rock climbing. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are like any other international cities except perhaps less retail variety and a bit behind in trends. The other major cities are like massive country towns. It is cheaper than the UK though, but can be a bit pricey if you want to live near the beach.

Wages are comparable, however compared to rental prices in London you get more for your money. Look at www.domain.com.au.

If you love the outdoors, the sun (we are still in a drought and it can get very hot and humid here) and a relaxed casual lifestyle then it is for you. As for the women - we are more casual than English girls - good convict stock, but otherwise not really different.

But Why??

yeah the seagulls and magpies are really fit, the seagulls love chips from KFC and the magpies love dive bombing you.

Yep, Australia is that good!
The economics are steady and positive, but like most countries, they do follow overseas trends.
And yes, the birds are fit - there isn't any Bird Flu in Australia!
LOL!

Well, we like it :-)

And so do lots of ex-Poms. Why not visit and see for yourself?

Cheers :-)

New Zealander here.
I know a lot of people who find Australia a far better place to live economically, and many say it is just far easier to buy your own house as wages are better over there and house prices arent as drastically high as in other countries.

Also we cant forget that the weather is gorgeous in most areas, but pick wisely if yo are not a fan of overwhelming heat stay away from the topmost parts of Aus.

Although New Zealand is also a great place to be if you want to just jump over the ditch.

My wife is from Cardiff, South Wales and my photo displayed is the first I sent to her. She says its the Koala she fell in love with that made her move here and marry me 32 years ago - but i do think its the great country and people that Australia realy is; is the reason she came out here. We went to UK in May 2007 - and looking between London, Cardiff and Edinburgh by car I dont blame her trading that smaller island for our bigger and better one!! Birds ...... hmmmm the bikini ones on the beach every sunny day are worth looking at - I, being a married man, am only allowed to look BUT don't Touch!!.

Ahh, yes. If you come to Australia, the conversion rate to the pound will be in your favour nicely. There is always backpacking work as a fruitpicker if you want a travelling holiday.

The women in Australia are pretty hot. We're descended from all the hot convicts you Poms exported over here!

A lot of people emigrate here so it can't be all bad.

Australia is THAT good.

I live here, so it must be good, mate!

I was living in the Uk for the last year and just came home to Aus, things are pretty similar in both countries but there are differences. Lol, for starters we dont refer to people as being 'fit', we use the word hot and there is equal amount of good looking and unattractive people in both countries. However going o/s always means u have the added bonus of having 'a cute accent'.
The pound is worth more than the aussie dollar so things are cheaper over here than in the uk.

Yeh the birds are tight! Weathers great, beaches the best in the First World, I wonder why you don't all move here!

depends what you are looking for and what makes you happy....I personaly think it is safe , no one carries gun the way people do in USA....I travelled once to USA and I saw the cars have black windows and I thought my God that is because people are concerned someone might shoot them.especially if you have young children.....
