Take in a tour of the MCG and attend a footy match there..

what do you like ? as in are you interested in the history of the place, the arts, the scenic trips? do you want to stay in the city or are you planing to travel out a little...

I was born in N.S.W .. but i live in the far outer suburbs of Melbourne but love going into the city to explore.

you could take the Melbourne ghost tour .. which is a couple of hours walking around the city at night and learning a little of the history and the *spooky* occurances that have been reported over the years...

Go to Queen Victoria Market , which incidently is built on a cemetry where many bodies are still buried beneath the car-park . (one of many built over cemetries)
Melbourne has a lot of beautiful old examples of architecture from the gold rush days.

You could take a drive along the Great Ocean Road.. which was built by Returned Service Men of World War One and it gives you a beautiful perspective of the coast line.

Go out to the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley.. take a ride on Puffing Billy, Go to Healesville Sanctuary

I'll come back with some links for you.

You could visit the Botanical Gardens.Just catch a tram It will take you right there...Shopping in the center city There are some good shops right up to date .The arcades are also interesting full of bits of history. You could catch a tram that would take you right around the city and the driver would help with the landmarks..such as Victoria Market

Crown casino. you are not going to gamble, but there is the biggest entertainment centre in Melboure.

Chapel Street, South Yarra is nice area, and you can take the train to it. it is nice shopping at day, and good bar at night. take a look and see how it goes.

St. Kiddra beach is good too, and there are some restaurants near by the beach, and very relaxing.

Lydon St, Carlton. it is nice Italian restaurant area. i love it.

sometimes, you can take a free tram - city cycle, and they offer you some booklet about melbourne, and activities to do. you can always find those information in Finder Street train station. it is a train station which makes from old castle. also, near by, there is much Art gallery too. jsut take a look. Melbourne is a very safe place, but in downtown, you still need to be careful and don't walk alone if you are girls.

have fun and enjoy your trip.

It depends what you are interested in. Get information from a Melbourne website to find out. Melbourne offers many things for many different tastes.
Have fun.
