Visiting Melbourne for a month and need some help?

I'm going to Melbourne in April for a month and will be staying with my auntie.

Im just wondering, what kinds of clothes should I wear? anything I should do? and is there anything I need to know about the weather and such?

Thanks, any help is appreciated! (:

Also my condolences to those who have been victims in the bush fires, it's such a horrible thing

I also forgot to mention, I come from Scotland so most of my clothing is for keeping warm

Melbourne is unpredictable so you will definately be cold at times especially the morning and the evenings even though you are from Scotland. 2 dresses maximum will be required.Melbourne people love to dress up during the evenings so a couple of nice outfits if you plan to go out. I suggest a warm jacket and bring the jeans, we live in them.
Places of interest are The Great Ocean Road and maybe a visit to the penguins in Philip Island. There is a free tram that takes you to points of interest around the city so make use of it.
For great shopping, either famous Chapel St in Toorak or Chadstone City for great design and chain store, it's all there.
Dining is abundant in Melbourne and a visit to crown Casino is interesting though gambling not expected.
Also, if you are young or young at heart St.Kilda on the beach is a very trendy suburb not far from the city centre and has plenty of pubs, clubs and restaurants.
Lastly for a view of the city go to Eureka sky tower (approx $16) for great views of the bay and city.
Enjoy your stay.

The weather should still be nice in April, compared to Scotland anyway, i'd bring stuff like jeans, light jacket, some long sleeve and short sleeve tops, things that can be layered as the temp can vary greatly at that time of year from morning to night.

hey,

the weather changes here it can be hot one day and cold the next. when you come here it will be autumn. so i would suggest that you bring some summery clothes and some wintery clothes.

just be yourself and you will be fine (:

enjoy your holiday.

sunny mild days (approx 20-25C) and cool nights 10-15C...

I would suggest you bring warm clothes, such as jackets, long sleeve tops, jeans etc...for the mornings/evenings - no need for raincoats, gloves, hats etc!!!

I would also advise you bring a few singlets, t-shirts and skirts/shorts for the day coz we do tend to have random days of hot weather!

You dont mention how long you are staying but the weather does get pretty cold in May so you would need some wintery clothes too.

So in summary...bring you whole wardrobe and enjoy the 4 seasons in one day in Melbourne...LOL

Bring clothes for all types of weather. Melbourne weather is insane...one minute its freezing, then its warm and sunny, then a thunderstorm happens, then you're sleeping in just underwear. It will be a little cooler in april, but still, be prepared.

The fashion scene is pretty complex, if you're staying near the city then there will be lots of differently dressed people. My advice would be to buy clothes when you arrive, not beforehand.

in Australia April is at the end of winter coming in to spring so if your here for a month you wont have to deal with the heat of summer (hopefully) so id pack just some normal clothes some jeans and a couple pairs of shorts
hope you like it here
