As you can see from a lot of the previous answers, the only thing we don't really have is American food, although we do have a lot of great substitutes that you will learn to love.
You will be able to find everything else you need here. Westfield shopping centres are like the big malls in the US so find your nearest one an go for your life. If worst comes to worst, buy what you need on eBay and get it shipped over!
I would be more concerned about childcare for your toddlers. Waiting lists for 0-5year olds are incredibly long so if you know where you will be moving to and are thinking about putting your children into care, even if for just one or two days a week, I would be looking into the local preschools or long day care centres.
I live in Sydney so if you want any more help please feel free to contact me!

I hope you realise that Australia is not like in Crocodile Dundee and you are unlikely to have to go without much! We don't have any George Bush...and we like it that way! |

Yeah very true-Australia is not like living in the dark ages- we have basically everything you have in US exept for a few random food items WOW BIG DEAL!!! yeah EBay is availiable if you get here and want something that you miss from US! Yeah and Sydney is a massive sydney- 4.5 Million (i guess not compared to London, New york, LA etc) but its still a big city based on world standards!! Oh maybe a new mobile from the US or New Movies coz they take a few months to get here!! |

Nothing specifically for the toddlers. But think before you bring any electrical items, unless they have dual voltage. Our voltage is twice the strength of yours and your stuff will fry. You can buy step-down transformers here but they're expensive and very heavy. Otherwise - G'day mate and enjoy Oz! |

You specifically mentioned 2 toddlers. Are you asking for items to bring for toddlers that you can not get here?
LOL - what? Do you think Australians don't make babies here? We would have everything for mothers here just like in the US.
Just be mindful of some culture shock when you get here. For example - our sarcastic sense of humour - just like the way I asked you above. Don't take offense to such questions or comment. We do not mind where you come from - as long as you treat us the way you want to be treated - you will be fine.
We DO NOT live in the dark ages. We even have (heaven forbid) supermarkets here! Just remember not to expect everything to be the same as in the USA. You are in another country now.
Cheers, mate. |
