Additional Details bear i know Australia is not a primative country!!!! But when i have asked Australians I know about such places none seem to know. That is why i have asked....
Be sure to visit Queensland, its a massive tourist area and great for children. My other suggestions would be Sydney and Melbourne. I would aim to spend around a month in Australia or 1 week per city, as even that will keep you more then busy and wanting to coming back for more.

I have taken kids on long haul flights but they were 11 and 15 at the time. If you do decide to do this trip then i strongly urge you to take a stop-over on route to maybe Thailand or Singapore to give you and your children a couple of days relaxation before flying onwards to Australia. Not sure how 3 and 5 year old will behave when on day trips though as they may be bored with places like Ayers Rock etc. My sons loved the trip but they were older. However on a positive not I am sure your children would love the beaches and especially Steve Irwin's zoo near Gold coast, Brisbane.

Yeah i think that is a great idea. there is plenty of things to do for little kids that age. I'm sure the yd love to go to a zoo and see some Aussie animals. and experience our beaches. There is plenty of things to do for everything and some nice sites and history to see,

Apart from all the above clap-trap about the deadly creatures that ''will eat you''......Spiders?? etc....Sick!!!!!
Its a great idea provided you think of the kids needs first.
24 hours in the air is ''boredom city'' for kids and you must bring things with you for them to keep their minds occupied on the long legs of the flight. Crying children in confined spaces is generally bad for everybody, including the parents. It distresses and upsets. So plan ahead. Kids of this age will only appreciate this trip when their in their teens or later. They will only see where they were by looking at photo's because they are young and probably wont remember all the details. I speak from experience and now that my lads are in their 20s they still ask questions about this place or that. Enjoy Australia. Its a great place to visit. You have to really look for dangerous fauna in Oz. Don't let the braggers worry you in this regard. Apart from the odd shark attack all of the above will NOT ''eat'' you.

It's a great idea! There is heaps of stuff for families to do in Australia, the climate is great, lots of yummy food and friendly people who love kids. Have a great time!
