Beefy Hotty

What's so good about emigrating to Austrailia?

Lots of people I know are doing this. They end up miserable, missing all thier friends and family all because of what? Enlighten me.

Actually very few people are doing it. It's very difficult to get an immigration visa and a work permit unless you have exceptional skills.
Australia is very fussy who they let in.

The few I have met are very happy in Australia and quickly get over any homesickness. Most love the people, the climate, the standard of living and the space.

Well I know people who have gone there and they love it.

Besides what has this country got to offer, overpopulated, to many imigrants, less work, credit crunch, weather, etc etc.....

If people emigrate to Australia and are then miserable about missing their friends and family, that's hardly Australia's fault. Most immigrants love it in this country and feel that coming to live here was the best idea they ever had.

No one knows how difficult it will be to be far away from their old home until they actually make the move and a small number (mostly women) simply never settle. Some find it impossible to live somewhere where mum and their siblings aren't only a short drive away and others expect Australia to be exactly like the old country but with better weather and no social problems.

For those whose family ties don't rely on close proximity,or who are prepared to really give it a go and make a new life for themselves in a different country, it's a great place with unlimited opportunities for people with ability and a good work ethic. Australia provides a better lifestyle in a safer, less crowded environment than the UK and many other countries. We're a bit behind the rest of the world in some things (though not in anything really important) but we have a good standard of living, very few social problems, a far more egalitarian society and people here are friendlier, more cheerful and a lot more optimistic than you'll find in a lot of other places.

The weather, the security (Australia is a safe haven for those who live in gun-happy countries or war-torn countries), the outdoor living (surf lifesaving, barbecues, fresh seafood, swimming, surfing, cricket), the friendly people (everyone is overly nice), the relaxed lifestyle (not many people stress), it's a multi-cultural society (everyone is very accepting of all religions and ways of life), low criminal activity compared to most countries, good education systems, low unemployment, vibrant city life, the outback, the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Opera House. Good food and wine too.

molly
Well I know lots of migrants and grew up with many they certainly aren't miserable in fact most try and move their families over here so they can experience the same lifestyle.
I have friend who moved from Melbourne to WA and she is occasionally homesick but she wouldn't go back so you don't have move countries for that to happen.

i moved here from south africa a while ago. to be honest, the area we are living in, in sydney is no better. crime is rampart, weekly shootings, stabbings, can't go outside!

Australia has crime problems. although, the beaches here are the best in the world and the people are quite friendly.

considering getting out of sydney and maybe over to a country town in nz.

Imagine
Its highly over rated isolated from everywhere and has had its heyday long ago. Hence all the silly wanted down under hype on tv. They did this in the sixties to populate their skills and labour shortages and many back then emigrated only to regret doing so. It is lacking in soul.
The myth of the great country australia is just that. A myth.
It is a very insular self boastful and racist country.
It is also swamped by temporary / casual work agencies and its fair share of social criminal and economic problems. Otherwise I would be living there today.

Warning : Wear footwear on the beaches.

DRUG needles and condoms everywhere !!!

Mel
Sorry, but we're not gonna tell you the secret.

We want to keep this wonderful country to ourselves.

By the way, no one I know that has migrated has had any second thoughts, they all love it here.
