Perth? Not sure about that, it's pretty but I would have to say that it's Sydney because the harbour & surrounding areas are just magnificent.
However also Melbourne is beautiful and has lots to offer. Great restaurants, lots of things to do, a more multicultural atmosphere than Sydney.
But if you go to Australia, it's not just to see the (few) cities, but the great natural sceneries. |

Who cares? And what is the criteria by which such beauty is measured? |

Perth is beautiful and shiny and new, its true.
Sidney is a lovely mix of the old and new. It works well
My favourite is Melbourne. Melbourne has the new of Perth the old of Sidney and is fabulously diverse. I really love the atmosphere and soul of Melbourne.
Can't vouch for other cities as these are the only ones I visited. |

Give me Perth everytime it's beautiful.
I wasn't keen on Melbourne and apart from the harbour area Sydney didn't come up to my expectations.
For history and sightseeing they are all great but if I chose to live there it would have to be Perth. |

I used to live an perth and melbourne and I've been to alot of the cities in Aus.
I would have to say it depends what you like. Although at night from Kings park (I think) in perth, the skyline with the swan river is amazing. |

Being Australian it is hard to say which is the best or the most beautiful city.
People have already mentioned 3 major towns and our capital city (Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra (our capital city). But it all depends on what you like and are interested in. There are many beautiful towns that are off the beaten track - Port Macquarie, Port Douglas, Adelaide, the entire state of Tasmania, and so on.
If you want information, let me know and I will be glad to explain further :-) |

I have only seen the area around Cairns, but I'd have to say so far, my choice would be Port Douglas. Some of the scenery around that area is absolutely breathtaking! The golf courses were really well attended too...never had to think about crocodiles while I was teeing off before! |

Perth is the most boring (close contest with Adelaide).
Most beautiful....a small part of Sydney (the harbour area).
But as a whole city, it has to be Melbourne. |

I live in Perth, it's very laid back here, I find a lot of my friends move here from over east after coming for a visit simply because it's a slower pace. Other than that, I'm not sure how else to answer, I guess it depends on what you think is a beautiful city, I know that Perth has a lot of parks because the local government puts aside a certain percentage of land for parks and open spaces. I'm sure other cities are just as nice, each are known for their particular quality and each are unique. |

Perth is definitely the best and most beautiful place to live in Australia, if not the world! We have everything - nice beaches, great wineries and microbreweries, good restaurants, awesome wildlife, bushland etc. As long as you can handle the relaxation, come for a visit!
Don't listen to anyone from the Eastern States that bags on Perth - they're still upset because we won the football! |
