ADELAIDE: Take a stroll down Rundel Mall, so many shops and arcades, then follow it through to Rundle street which is a buzz full of café’s & restaurants, it finally ends up in the east parklands.
Take a walk down North Terrace, it’s is one of Australia’s finest cultural boulevards, which is lined with historic grand buildings as well as: (Adelaide Festival theatre, War memorial, Parliament house, Government House, State Library, Bradman Museum, Adelaide Museum, Adelaide Art Gallery, Adelaide University, Botanic Gardens, National wine Museum; to name a few)
The Botanic gardens are beautiful, and you can visit the National wine museum which is at the Southeast corner.
If you have a car, a drive thorough the adjacent Adelaide hills is a must.
Catch a tram to Glenelg, go to the beach check out the boats at the marina, shops, restaurants, café’s etc.
Port Adelaide and it's Maritime museum are always interesting, then a walk down the main street of nearby Semaphore and it’s jetty.
Cleland wildlife park, then head up the Mt Lofty Summit after, and check out the awesome views.
Catch the Popeye boat down the Torrens River to the Adelaide Zoo (The only Zoo in the Southern Hemisphere to have Giant Panda’s: from Oct)
Take a day trip to Victor Harbour, go over to Granite Island, have some fun.
Check out the links below and have a great time in Adelaide & Sydney!

(By the way, just be wary of “silly” answers on this forum it’s a good idea to see the % of best answers from your responses and how long they have been using this forum and sources / links to give credibility their claims, (as well as doing some of your own research) as you have probably realised otzye ‘s comments re Adelaide are mere nonsense; not even worth considering, and I'm sorry for those who are trying to get credible answers to their questions, and get these sort of rants and raves on Yahoo Answers.) |

Sydney is a great city, there's heaps to see, some the best areas are the Sydney harbour, the Rocks, Woolloomooloo and Kings X, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Bondi Beach and suburbs like Glebe, Newtown and Paddington.

Adelaide is quieter but i enjoyed the city centre, Rundle Mall and central markets. Also, there are many interesting museums in Adelaide.

In Sydney you should visit China Town and darling Harbour, The Opera House and Circular Quay. You can go to Sydney Tower and get spectacular views or even do a Harbour bridge Climb if you are reasonably fit and not scared of heights.
In Adelaide you should go to the Adeliaide Hills and stay at a winery.Or travel further like the Barossa Valley, The Clare Valley, The Coonawarra...and stay at a winery.
You CANNOT visit South Australia and fail to stay at a winery.
They make the best wine in the world there. |

well- it's otzye again but i've lost my pwd.
I think the advice I gave about stuff to see in Sydney was valuable. I don't like Adelaide, I had a horrible time there, I found it extremely boring and I'm suggesting people who are willing to go there on holiday not to do that.
SO WHAT?
that is my opinion. I'm not laughing at people because they were born there.
And if you think the only Zoo in the Southern Hemisphere to have Giant Pandas is something exciting then I feel sorry for you, seriously. |

just avoid adelaide, it's worthless going, unless you want to go to kangaroo island (then you can stop one night - no more - and catch a ferry from adelaide in the morning). Sydney is great, there's a lot of things to do. You can start from the CBD/Darling Harbour/Opera House which are quite impressive especially if you're from Europe (as I am). At Circular Quay you can catch a ferry to lots of different beaches (manly was my favourite). Bondi Beach is also nice but definitely more touristy. The Rocks is the ols Sydney, and it's just besides circular quay. There's also a lot of shopping to do in the city. Outside the CBD u'll find lots of nice suburbs as glebe, newtown and leichardt. Then i think the best way to enjoy sydney is simply grabbin a map and wandering. You might hear a lot about unsafe suburbs (esp. redfern, which is really close to the CBD btw), but if you use common sense it'll be 110% alright. have fun! |
