G'Day mate!
We love foreigners here. The culture is great. We have a laid back attitude compared to other countries. We work hard but we like to relax and enjoy life as well. We have an odd sense of humor and enjoy sports and the outdoor life. We have everything you need right here. Would not live anywhere else. The women are hot and the blokes are cool! hahahaah We love beer and good times. We love a BBQ and going to the beach. We drive on the left hand side of the road. And our wildlife and scenery are amazing. Come on over and check us out! |

Australians are as diverse a group of people as any others. Perhaps a little more welcoming and outgoing, but basically they are ordinary human beings. |

Most* Aussies I've met are like Brits but a bit louder and have more of a sense of pride about their country. Even if that means always going on about Vegemite, why they don't need the UK flag on theirs (but like having a day off for the Queen's birthday) and nearly all own at least one stuffed koala or kangaroo stuffed toy.
Still, they're my mates and I love em... the silly barbecuing idiots.
*n.b. not all. |

I moved to Australia when I was 9 and everyone back in Asia where we lived was like: Oh they'll be racist and they're so lazy etc.
But what I've experienced is completely different to that. Aussies on the whole are really welcoming. All the ones which I've had experience with are pretty open-minded and are interested in learning about your life. Of course people (in general) tend to gravitate towards their own kind naturally, if you know what I mean. But practically all my friends are white and in primary school everyone was anything but racist towards me :) |

Laid-back always ready to have lend of people but prepared to give anyone a fair go as long as they return the favour as we don't like bludgers or whingers.
My parents immigrated when I was little and I always felt like an Aussie even when my friends called me a Pom I knew it was a term of endearment and I secretly thank them every day for making the move and giving their children such a wonderful place to call home.
Hunter I have been called a Pom my whole life and we call one of our friends the Wog his parents are Greek note I don't say he is because he doesn't think he is nor do we he is an Aussie and always will be yes he is different but he is still one of us.
Hunter if your parents are Polish you would look the same as me European except our accents would be different. |

beware the term "laid back" is different in Australia, where it means over-familiar' hotel receptionists you mate, etc
also once you get past the Crocodile Dundee image,,.... which has itself vanished as most Australian males look like Beckham nowadays....... there ain't a lot there |

cool and we love the beach. the girls are really stupid because they all get skin cancer from tanning too much. That's what it's like here. |

I went to Australia twice last year and absolutely loved the Australian people, they are so friendly, chilled and laid back, can't do enough to help you. |

Hunter (above) is obviously a very disgruntled gal.
It would appear from your writing, my dear, that you may be your own problem.
You refer to your fellow Australians as "They" (worship America), which reveals a them-and-us mentality.
First, start regarding yourself as an Aussie, and others might accept you.
Cheers. |

My parents migrated here from Poland about 20 years ago, met here, got married, had me and my brother here.
No one has ever called me an Australian.
EVER.
They worship America.
Worship mainstream American culture that was "out" there 2 years ago.
It's horrible, stay wherever you are.
And the culture?
America's Toilet.
edit: would regard myself as an aussie if i didn't get called a wog my whole life.
edit (molly): i know when people are joking. "you're a ******* stupid wog" "go back to where you came from" "commie"
coming from anglo kids. sound like a joke when that's all they ever say to you? i can take it when non anglo people call me a wog, that's different, i know they mean it in a light way. and my friends who are anglo don't even call me one. |

Still at the primary stage of development at the moment but learning quickly.
Newcomers welcome because they all live on the coast as the interior is so uninhabitable.
They don't have any culture apart from Tom Cruises ex the lovely Nicole K. |
