1. 101 ghostbuster hearses... 102 ghostbuster hearses.

Choose something outside the moving bus you can count, blue cars, red barns, unique but repeating signs that sort of thing. First person to go chooses what to count and how many. First person from your group to spot them all on the road gets to choose the next one. This game kept my 6yo nephew occupied for hours on a 20 hour car trip.

2. Yes, No, I don't know

In this game one person chooses any object anywhere (famous landmarks, your lunch, a rock - anything). They then have to answer questions from everyone else as to what it could possibly be. One small thing - they can only answer questions with - Yes, No and I don't know. You would be surprised how even the simplest thing takes a lot of narrowing down to figure out just what it is. A great time waster and easy enough for even the blondest person to play.

3. Use components from board games to make your own games.

Use the question cards from Trivial Pursuit or similar to make your own in bus quiz show. Strip down and take along with you games like Pictionary or Scattegories. You don't need the huge boxes, just take the pads of paper some pens and the questions.

You can do many fun things if you are with friends: play cards, print a bunch of lyrics of popular songs and sing with your friends, talk with them, listen to music, take a laptop with you or read a magazine or a book. Hope I gave you some ideas.

Me and my mates play a game where you choose something in entertainment (eg. bands) and a subject (eg. colors) and then you have to go around in a circle naming bands with colors in them. (eg. Pink Floyd, Yellowcard, Blue October). If someone can't think of one, they are out. The round finishes when they is only one person left. It can take hours if people know their entertainment.

It's a long trip and buses are just not comfy but you can provide yourself with a travel blanket and a pillow---this will help and you can have little sleeps with some comfort. Singing is good and helps exercise the throat .Also playing musical chairs can be fun and will pass the time as sitting with different people will provide some amusement. If some have mobiles can send messages to each other while you have service. Do check with the driver on the things you can do as it is important that he does not get upset and is able to concentrate on the road. Advise friends beforehand to memorise some jokes that can be passed around---short ones please ! Lollies and small snacks are good and can be a real variety as everyone brings something different. Folders with paper and an attached pen can help to play story games where a story is made up as the paper is passed around-----sometimes very amusing and certainly passes the time. Good also to do some stretching exercises with eveyone suggesting a different routine. Bus will have stops occassionally for you to get off and stretch etc. Take away food is usually sold but it is pricy so may be a good idea to take sandwiches and salads. However you do want to keep your carry on luggage light and handy so be aware ----- crossing borders some fruit cannot be taken across so make sure it is consumed well before. Provide some magazines for quiet times. If everyone brings a couple you could have quite a variety if not in the types perhaps different months. Last but not least make out a list of the things you need to take and get organised early. It is suprising how quickly time will pass. So good luck and have a good trip !

exchange stories of embarrassing moments, genuine jokes, concert or vacation memories etc. also for lone time stuff you can write in a journal. not exactly a travel journal [although you could record that] but record thoughts on anything going through your head - like you're telling your life story. also listen to music if you have a mp3 player, and read a book (i like Twilight by Stephenie Meyer). I also love playing hand games with others - my favorite being Thumbs - check site below. have fun!!

Get a partner, and play number plate poker.
Count the white insulators on the telephone poles.
Keep vehicle statistics. (3 white VW, 1 blue Ford etc.)
Pest the other passengers by asking silly questions. :-)
Go to sleep, Meditate. Peace.

Are there going to be other people on the bus with you guys?

Dont be too loud, you might annoy the other passengers and the driver..

Do you or one of your friends play guitar? If yes, bring a guitar and have a sing along on the bus..

Or buy a toy called bop it.. you can buy it in big w or shops like that for $35.. it will get everyone concentrating.. and frustrated at times.. its pretty fun for a group activity..

Play cards.. Listen to music.. play i spy.. etc..
