We flew with Singapore Airlines to Australia and I can highly recommend them to anyone, you have tons of leg room in economy, we are both over 5ft 9in and had no problems, as soon as your seated your given a hot flannel to wipe your face and hands with,, ear plugs to listen to the tv and radio with and there free plus a pillow and blanket, after take off you can have as much alcohol and hot drinks as you want and its all included in the price of your ticket, you can get a snack whenever your hungry and you get really good meals too, a hot flannel is again given to you before landing to refresh your hands and face and the loos have shaving gear, toothbrushes, combs, perfume, hand lotion, body creams and talcum powder, I can't wait to fly with them again as nothing is too much trouble for them at all. |

Go Business Class if you can afford it and regard the journey as part of your holiday.
We have always travelled "Cattle Class" in the past but decided to spoil ourselves last December. Flew Business Class with Emirates, arranged by Nicola at Travel Bag, Cheltenham.
It was fabulous - the Business Class lounge in Sydney (one of our stop-overs) was top notch - the free food was very high quality as were the free drinks! Everything was just help yourself. The shower facilities immaculate.
The cabin staff knew us by name, nothing was too much trouble, the in-flight meals were very good restaurant standard; we were able to stretch out to sleep.
The only gripe we had was the long walk to change planes at Dubai; next time we'll do a Dubai stopover which might take care of that.
Do take advantage of the good deals offered for stop-overs - in the past we've stopped in Singapore (loved it), Fiji (very hot - make sure you swim in the waterfall!), San Francisco, Hong Kong (very cold and miserable in December), Los Angeles (best do-nuts in the World!), Thailand (also very hot and humid)
If you are staying in Sydney for a while, visit Cockle Bay for a good selection of restaurants as well as Sydney Harbour (you can catch a water taxi from one to the other)
Wish I were coming with you - it's a good way of missing the winter colds and chest infections. |

flown emirates before and they were spot on, unless you fly business class which is expensive, i would say there is not a lot of difference with all the airlines, where leg room is concerned, were off with BA this year and been told they`re pretty good! |

Go Singapore or Virgin, they are top notch in all of the categories you list. Don't know what you are willing to pay, but they both offer sleeper seats, very comfy. |

I'd go with Singapore Airlines.
- Excellent customer service
- Good menu (they even bring snacks around between meals if you're peckish!)
- Legroom isn't too bad (about what you'd expect in economy)
- Average level of economy comfort (they do bring around socks and tootbrush set, uncommon on airlines these days)
- Good entertainment system with TV, movies, news, games, etc..
- And you stop in Singapore Changi Airport - one of the most 'comforting' and relieving airports in the world!

Singapore Airlines used to be the benchmark, but in the last few years it has become just another also ran, especially economy class. It fact, Malaysian Airlines (MAS) seems to be making more effort and the comfort level offered is better than SIA. If you fly from London, you can fly MAS and you can stop over in KL and see Malaysia which is a lot more interesting than sterile Singapore. |
