What are the differences in thinking between Women in the USA and Australia?

I've been told by a number of people that Australian are more upfront and play less games than American women, Is there any truth to this. I also have heard that the women expect to be treated totally diffrent, is there truth to this statement?
Additional Details
I've always wanted to visit, and hope to live there after going to a university there. I think that I will fit in quite well if this info is good

Okay from an Aussie....

There are differences and Im sure there would be sociological papers published on it from research etc. Of the top of my head Im guessing from what I know and have observed - this is just a broad generalization - not true for all...

American women tend to be more confident (which is a good thing!). They grow up faster and mature faster, in looks, socializing, responsibilities.

Australians - women or not are more blunt (which I think is good!) Many people notice this - especially those who deal with large groups of people. Its just part of our culture. We will say what we think. No beating around the bush - male or female.

I would say more Aussie women have less sex and or are virgins at a certain age than American women. I think that one main reason for this may be the attitude of men towards women here.... they dont flirt with women as much here as they do in the US - from what I have seen. Americans are much more sexually open than Australians socially. As an example an American girl and boy who are just friends may lay on the couch together touching and hugging just mucking around but you wouldnt do that in Australia typically from what I have seen/know. American guys will be more affectionate and open regarding their like or want for a girl than an Aussie man.

I have also heard some other stuff which you may want to look into and research more - such as Aussies are less in touch with their emotions than their American friends. More tough. This affects how men relate to women. Aussie women put up with more 'garbage' from men I think for this reason. American men can be"nicer" than Aussie men for this reason. BTW I am Australian!!!

AGAIN no abuse please... this is just broad generalizations from what I have heard and seen over time from various sources and places and it is not true for everyone in Australia (or America) just generalizations.

I can only go by the American women I have met whilst traveling, who were most probably of a particular education and background. They were much more well mannered than I, and seemed to be better educated. But I found them a little naive about life, men and old fashioned in their dress and taste and I must say they did talk loudly and confidently. I did have an American boss once and she was hard, corporate and really scary. Also, the women portrayed on TV and in movies that we see a lot of seem much more bold and confident, but I don't consider that a typical cross section of American society. I guess we are more relaxed about life in general as our society places less emphasis on money and success than the USA.

Because our nations have so much in common, it's hard to remember sometimes that Australia and the US are very different cultures.

US people are much more individualistic and personally competitive than most Australians, who have an outlook based on our systems of commonwealth.

Americans seem much more articulate and comfortable speaking out than Australians, particularly the young people, but that is both men and women.

Australians are less formal in attire and attitude to life, but are often more traditonal in their approach to authority.

We have a very different history and many of the big issues in the US don't affect us, while things of importance to us don't raise a ripple in the US.

I'm not sure how American women 'expect' to be treated, but most Australian women want respect and sincerity from guys, and enjoy the chance to party with friends of both sexes without feeling pressured to get romantic if they don't wish to.

It's hard to imagine what other differenences there might be, and it's one reason I would love to visit the US one day and see for myself.

Why not do the same, but in reverse? :-)

Cheers :-)

I personally think that Aussie girls are a bit more laid back and don't really care that much about being perfect all the time, of course thats not all us aussies but the ones I know anyway...

Im ok now
Ok, I am American, and cannot tell you what the difference in women is, but my experience in dating an Aussie is that Australian men are more genuine than American men. More considerate and 'real'. Just my experience, ok? So thinking about that I would say that unfortunately American women probably put up with alot more crap than Australian women, just because that is how most of the men here treat us. Does this make sense?

Not much... we have different accents, different exchange rates (thus US women can spend up big in other countries compared with Aus women), and different pop culture (AFL and netball for aussie women, Gridiron and basketball for US women).
Theres also the stereotypes- On one end of the scale u have the ditzy but cute cheerleader versus the bronzed, athletic beach babe. On the other end you have the obese, fried chicken loving women versus the foul mouthed moccassin wearing women.
Pros and Cons, but we arn't that different!

Having met both, and being neither, I think Australians and Brits (men and women) have a sarcastic or dark sense of humour that Americans just don't get, I have seen something of the sort happen here on Y/A, with a sarcastic remark posted by and Aussie Brit girl and the responses from Americans, many took it for face value! it was funny. Another point is that Australians just seem to be coming to terms with their multicultural society, so there are lots of different Aussie women, of asian background for example, they again are different. In the US you have latino and balck women, and they handle themselves differently in some cases than lets say the midwestern white girl. But these are all generalizations...

Australian Chicks arent as loud mouthed as the american species - and they sure as hell wouldnt be that stupid to ask such a dumb-*** question!
They are smarter, more honest and better in bed. They dont whine as much and dont mind getting a little dirty.
The accent is hotter than the american accent too! And dont even get me started on the men - the yanks are ******* - chicks need men with skills - not a laptop.

By the way - an Australian chick would know that this was answered by an Australian chick and think it was funny and clever - an american would think it was an insult and try to sue me and probably then tried to sue everyone else who read it!

'Ave a great day mate'. I'm avin snags cooked on a barbie tonight!

Yes, OZ women are the best. Open personalities, less pretense....if they like you, easy to sleep with...many seem to prefer giving it orally....more so than US girls and women. Treat them with the usual respect. You will like your visit.
