What are typical habits for Australian people?

The Australians are more like the Americans than anybody else. The big cities are lively like the ones in the states. They love to party & drink, are mostly very outgoing, good sense of humor and very friendly people. If you go to the outback or smaller towns, they are a bit more conservative. The Australians have more of a free attitude, more open, lively, outgoing than the Dutch. I prefer Australians over all others and would go back there anytime. If I had to move to a foreign country, it would be there. I've been to a lot of countries. The Australians are great.

We wake up the morning after spending just a few hours in bed. Most of the population go to work from 9am 5pm. We either, grab public transport or battle the peak hour traffic - but the price of petrol is shocking so public transport is a better option, however, some Aussies can't stand to sit next to someone on the train who has the morning paper sprawled everywhere. This is why I drive to work.
On the way home, I stop at Safeway to purchase the evening meal. This costs approx $40. Then I drive home to cook this meal. Upon entry of my garage, I feed my cats, then my dog. I collect my mail and proceed inside to cook dinner.

Usually, while this is cooking I answer my telephone messages and chat with my family. I then open a bottle of red when dinner is served. After this, I place my dishes in the dish washer and start to hunt for the clothes that I will wear the next day.

I usually spend 60 minutes on the net or chatting to a friend on the phone.

bed time is normally around 10 PM for me.

I get up at 6 AM and my day starts again!

I may not be an Australian, but I work with both Dutch and Australians. My impression is that Australians are, surprisingly, living by what the Swedes call "Jantelagen" - a northern-European code of ethics according to which it is considered bad form to put yourself on display, especially to brag. This does set them apart from the Dutch, who are more inclined to tell you in your face that they think they are really rather good at something (when, indeed, they are). I also get the impression that the Australians are generally a bit sunnier on the inside than the Dutch; you will find a brooding or moody Dutch person more easily than the same from an Australian. And then there is that cultural thing: Australians have this sore spot; they seem to think of themselves as isolated from European culture, but somehow long to be in touch ith it. This, curiously, seems to make many Australians better educated about European culture than many Europeans (e.g. Dutch), who are looking elsewhere for inspiration.

Fun question.
I have good friends in both places and see a lot of similarities.
Austtralians are more like Texans in my opinion.
Dutch are more European in all ways.
