I spend 6 mths in Adelaide for a study trip and fell in love with that place. It isnt as busy and crowded as Melb or Sydney but it offers you some nice time to relax and enjoy nature at its best. I do recom you trying these places:
- Glengle - Beach, restaurants, cafe, shops (nice little place away from the City)
- Hahndorf, so called the little german town. There isnt much really, altho u can get some really decent German food and beer at one of the hotels there. And about 1km down from Hahndorf there is a Strawberry farm and factory that makes really good jelly and jam.
- Torrens River - its might be a little cold in July, but in noon when the sun is shining, its nice to have a stroll along the river and read a book perhaps?
- Barossa Valley - if you are a wine person, there are many wineries...
- Take a free tram ride from the city district to central market. The central market is next to chinatown and you can find some really good food there.
- Victor Harbour - if you can spare a day, take a trip down to V.H and there is this horse driven carriage that brings u to this small island across the sea. Pretty cool sight of the ocean and waves and rocks.
- Haigh's chocolate. Pretty nice chocolates. U can ask for samples to see if you like them before buying. There is one at the street corner of King William Street
I hope that is enough information for ya :)
Have a good trip |

heaps of ppl have given an answer, but as someone who immigrated to australia- and has chosen to stay in Adelaide, i thought I'd share what I like.
A lot of it depends on when you're comin and what ur style is. For the rest of march the fringe is on and that's a bunch of great lil shows. All these comedians seem to come out from everywhere and incredibly worthwhile to check out.
When it's hot, the beaches are def the best. Glenelg is the most popular bc of the shopping, but brighton beach itself looks the best in my opinion. Grange isnt too bad either.
If you like nature, my most favorite place in the world is the Botanical Gardens. It's very peaceful and has some excellent plants and birds for photos.
If you're into creepy stuff, there's the Adelaide jail (or gaol, however u wanna spell it). There's a ghost tour at night you have to book.
Meanwhile, there's pubs and clubs. That, too, depends on what you're in to. If you lov sports, The Rosemont is pretty good. PJ O'Briens and the Archer are pretty popular on the weekends. So's the elephant- heaps nice there. Actually, wandering around rundle street ain't a bad idea of that scene or a nice meal at all. (archer is in north adelaide). the casino's good too. If you have the money, that is.
Things also depend on the suburb you're staying in. For shopping, Marion- south Harbour Town and West Lakes- west, Tea Tree Plaza, Elizabeth- north are the best for those areas i reckon.
Hope that gives u some ideas. Have fun in our city! |

i rekon, due to the fact we are currently in the middle of a record heat wave. go to the beach. glenelg is really nice if u want all the cafes and shopping and things as well. although it will be packed. or u can go to moana and drive on the beach. or all along the coastline is really nice. and great for a swim! |

We have a great Casino, Zoo, Wildlife park in the Hills. Hahndorf in the Hills is a quaint German town popular with tourists. Museums. art galleries. One special thing is the O Bahn busway, you can catch the bus from the city, it travels on the road, then just outside the city goes on tracks, and does over 100 ks an hour, thru some nice scenery, and about 20 mins later you get to Tea tree Plaza shopping centre, (worth a look around have some lunch then catch the O-Bahn bus back again. |

Belair National Park is a great place for a walk and discover Koalas.
The view over Adelaide from Windy Point is gorgeous, and the restaurant is superb.
The beaches are wonderful. Adelaide Harbour is also worth a visit.
Perhaps you've got the time for a trip to the Flinders Ranges? that's nature at its best. |

That is my mom's hometown and I stay there quite a bit. Other than some good shopping and beaches honestly there isn't much. My mom can't get out of there fast enough. Personally I would travel perhaps to Melbourne or Sydney if you have enough time. If not let hope your bringing your bathers. |

Dont bother Adelaide is crap, I dont know what "Daydream" is on about but she must be daydreamin!! The Zoo?? Its dead!! No Elephant, No Bears, I even think they have moved the Giraffe to greener pastures, Adelaide has to be the only Zoo in the world without an Elephant!! Its got plenty of birds though. She also mentioned the Casino, another joke compared to other states and other countries, its crap in fact Adelaide is the most boring place in the Country, I live here and am trying very hard to get out, just mortgage stopping me for now, lol.. Look Adelaide has some nice wineries, yes, has nice beaches and EEHHH!!! thats about it, Go to Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, They have everything and are more beautiful, I want to get out, HELPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!! |
