What city Do you like more Melbourne or Sydney!?

Melbourne has a classy,cultured, understated and European feel about it. Sydney is brash, tacky, in your face and gimmicky. The two cites are very different. The people in Sydney are usually underdressed and/or inappropriately dressed compared to the Melbournians. Sydneysiders like to talk about how much money they make. Melbournians like to talk about the latest art exhibition/pub band/fringe film they've seen. You get the picture?
In Sydney they say "it is soooooo not" and OMG alot. Alot of affectations about that city.

I think it depends on ones personality.
If a person likes a laid back lifestyle then Melbourne is the place to be. I think it is also the restaurant and cafe capital of Australia.
If you like a faster pace of life and nightlife then perhaps Sydney is the place to be.
Having lived in both, I must say I prefer Melbourne over Sydney. I found Sydney just a little too fast for me. I prefer a much more causal and easy going lifestyle.

Wow... how can i answer this question. i have lived in both cities. we live in dubai now and plan to live in australia soon.If it was my choice alone i would go to melbourne. melbourne rocks for sure.

Melbourne - Ordered, clean, cosmopolitan, gentle, yes it can get cold but lately Sydney has been experiencing the same cold temperatures. Better roads.

Sydney - Chaotic (wasn't planned out), smutty, racist, higher cost of living, humid, higher rainfall. People tend to be less trustworthy. Higher crime rate

They are both good in different ways. melburnians are more down to earth, cultured and sports-crazy and sydney-siders tend to be glitzy, 24hr city, entertaining, faster, buzzing city. Moo the conq- ur wrong, Melbourne is not an imitation of Sydney- they are both different cities.

Now I'm a Melburnian but I love both cities BUT it is exactly comments like yours that highlight the unfortunate downside of Sydney- the extraordinary arrogance of some of its residents!

Sydney for me cos I used to live there. But Melbourne aint bad at all, its just the weather is a little bit like London sometimes.

Multi-cultured, Multi-layered, Marvelously arty Melbourne. Sydney city is nice, but soon as you hit the suburbs it turns into a nightmare, unlike Melbourne. On balance Melbourne is better for sure, but Sydney isn't without its charm.

Sorry dude but Sydney is heaps better, I live in Brizzie and have been to both and Sydney has more and is more picturesque as well. Melbourne has this cold, dark thing about it where Sydney is bigger and seems more alive. Plus you cant beat the Harbour views also I hope you know that Sydney is gettin the Grand Prix now, not official yet but I have my sources, lol. You did it to Adelaide, now Sydney has done it to you, Bernie Eccleston is negotiating it as we speak. I like the Melbourne markets but thats about it. Cheers..
