ive been to both, and i keep going back to melbourne more. if you love arts, music and culture melbourne is the place to be. ofcourse sydney provides this as well, but melbourne is jam packed with mystery and fun. i went to a few secret hideaway bars that you can only know by word of mouth while i was there and went all around the city to find artworks in alleyways, some roads are even unnamed, so it was so great when you actually found the artwork! you walk into the alleyways in the day and the smell of foods around the world fill your senses!! the people are great too. just being there for 4 days on my last visit the overall welcome of the place was at a high level, with a stranger helping me get my luggage into the tram when i first arrived, the bank lady holding up the line for 15 minutes to talk to us about where to go in melbourne, the lady at david jones talking to us for 10 minutes about the snow fields around the area while i purchased thermal underwear and i can not forget the taxi driver who not only stop the counter so it wouldn't cost so much to find one of the secret bars, but pointed out more secret bars around the area we didnt even know of!! it is a great place, and i hope to live there in the future.

sydney because that's where my brothers and their families live

I myself prefer Melbourne and it's not because I was born and bred there.Melbourne is a quieter city, and you are not to far from beautiful amazing places like Apollo bay,Bells beach,Port Phillip Island, and small county towns dayelsford,or the Grampians.

None

It's too hard to get around in Sydney, with its one-way streets and the most unco train network in Australia, Melbourne is much nicer, more open and friendlier.

not melbourne... its too boring there. there's nothing to do. probably sydney, i love it there when i went there last week.

the robber
theseday, i would choose Melbourne to live in the day and Sydney to live in the night. its hot at day time in Sydney and its cold at night time in Melbourne...
hope this answer ur question.. :P

Zelda
Either one has got to be better than Cleveland, OH (USA).
