What did you think of Sydney? |
Hi!
I live in Sydney, Australia and I was wondering whether people who have travelled to Sydney liked visiting. Did you like it? Where did you go? I would be interested to hear about the tourist attractions that people visited and what their favourite part about visiting was.
It is just interesting to hear different perspectives in relation to this topic.
Thank you ^.^. Additional Details Thanks for all of your views so far. But I hope that some people aren't just saying positive things so that they can be voted 'best answer', that isn't the way I will decide.
The person that said that the public transport sucks was too right! |

Sydney is great. As a born and bred Melbournian that is tough to admit- lol.
I usually head up at least a couple of times a year. The hour flight makes it a perfect weekend escape.
For me the main attraction is the harbour and beaches. I honestly don't know how anyone in Sydney with any kind of view of the harbour gets any work done! The view is truly breathtaking, and I never get enough of it. Often I will buy myself a Day tripper ticket and spend the whole day just riding around the harbour on the ferries, reading my book.
Your beaches are great too. On my last trip (early November 07) I spent a day doing the walks around Manly. I've also done the walk from Bronte down to Bondi, rewarding myself with a icy cold beer at the Bondi Pavilion. The Pacific is SOOOO blue. Unlike Bass Strait which even at the height of Summer is always greeny/grey. |

Great city but there are a few (not many) suburbs to avoid. Lots of attractions and pretty good public transport. Buses, monorails, taxis, trams, ferries, trains, even boat-taxis and rickshaws are cheap, clean and reliable. You may have heard of CityRail, Sydney's train service being bad, but it is getting better with the upcoming withdrawl of the non-air conditioned trains. Dont worry about lebs, wogs etc as things like the cronulla riots dont happen everyday :). I love Sydney, it's an awesome city to live in! |

i live in Sydney
but to be honest its just way to expensive over populated and the weather is ordinary just to humid every day, but back to your question i wouldn't live anywhere else |

I have lived in Sydney all my life and have travelled abroad to foreign countries on many occasions.
To judge the city it depends on what you like and your interests.
Personally I think Sydney is underpopulated, over rated, expensive and boring.
At 6pm just about everything is closed and the streets are empty.
Most people whom make it in Australia end up moving overseas anyway.
New York, London these cities always have something going on. |

the best city in the world. "the best" doesn't mean I like it the most but it's simply the best.
cleanest place I've seen, awesome people (not most of the recent immigrants though), you can find there about anything you pretty much want, lots of sun at the same time it's not hot, really really safe, unpolluted air, lots of opportunities and I can go on and on............
I don't find "tourist atractions" interesting so I can't tell anything about it.
the CBD is the best part of the city.
I don't like some of its outskirts. it's simply dead there. I don't find it appealing |

I live here and i think its awesome!!! The weather is great most of the year. You can actualli see blue skies (unlike hk and china which is smog-ville). It aint too busy and people are quite laid back. Its quite multicultural and the shopping is pretty good, i recommend market city, QVB, Chatswood, Parramatta, Bondi junction.
However, the suburbs are boring. Public transport sucks so you pretty much have to drive everywhere. |

Try Denver, Colorado. We have real and distinct 4 seasons, we're a 1 mile up and have access to the beautiful rocky mountain ranges in signt and touch and much more.... |

Pretty clean city, but not "Seattle" clean. People there weren't unfriendly, but pretty much indifferent to my presence. Good wine, lousy hotels, nice scenery. |

Nice place for a shopping spree. As a Novocastrian, I should be more supportive, but let's face it; it's gray. Too crowded, people are always rushing, and you can't see the sky because of all the buildings. *light bulb* oh yeah, I'm heading there tomorrow.....well, I always love staying in my uncles house. |
