I've met many Americans who have visited OZ, and say that Australia is the absolute best place in the whole world. I know many Americans who would love to be able to live and work in Australia, but can't.
I have been to OZ, and think OZ is a much better place than America to live nowadays. More and more americans and other people around the world are starting to look at OZ as THE place they would like to immigrate to. In fact, OZ is the 2nd most desirable country to immigrate to, after USA, and that's only because American movies make USA out to be such a great place when, in reality, many Americans who spend any time in OZ want to move to Australia. I am planning to move to Australia in June of '09 because my finance' is an Aussie and she lives and works in Melbourne, VIC.
I think many Americans envy Aussies because of the nice climate and many beautiful beaches and exotic landscapes in OZ!
p.s. In the latest global travel survey by Conde Nast Traveler magazine, Sydney was the highest rated destination in the world for Americans, and Australia was #1 out of almost 100 countries in the quality of life index in 2008! G'Day Mate!

Students over here in America are usually very accepting of exchange students. I hate making generalizations, but for the vast majority, many Americans do like Australians and many other nationalities.

it's awful stereotyping, but whenever i hear australia i think of blonde people, kangaroos, koala bears, tazmanian devils, poisonous snakes, an island that is also a continent, warm / hot weather, & that's about it.

I love the accents and they also seem very laid back and friendly I don't think americans think lowly of australians at all :) I would like to go there one day!

depends what type of americans you ask. there are many different ethnicities now that don't find link to the anglo saxons in australia and anglo saxon americans who feel a tie.

I think most Americans think Australia is a pretty cool place so the Austrailian's must be pretty cool too. The accent is very sexy!

I am from Australia and I think your fire fighters are just crazy! I wouldn't like to work for them but I will go over there in the not to distant future to visit a number of stations. Especially the FDNY! wOOt!! But that is only one of my opinions :-)

Anyway I am sure if you came to Australia I am sure you would enjoy your stay!

Hey Courtney, some of these guys a pulling your leg, we think you guys are cool, don't be scared it's really not like you see on the cop shows. IF you go on line to Aussie Xpats in America or something like that and you email them they will tell you America is cool. One thing your not being told is, if you want to take a holiday lets say to the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana Resorts), Cuba, Mexico, Montreal, Toronto, man you will save heaps compared to going from there.

Come over, study, party, sunbathe and party some more.
