Americans are Yanks, Septics or Seppoes. Until I saw the answers here, I thought all Australians knew all those terms, but obviously not. |

most of us aussies tend to call Americans two things.
Americans (well duh)
and Yanks.
We dont try to offend you guys with the term Yanks and to be honest, I dont know what the meaning behind Yank is....but its always used as slang in newspapers and on TV. |

Australia has a history of rhyming slang its not meant as a derogatory usually its comment just a slang term.
Italian = eye tie
yank = septic tank
other slang Terms are also used but for the most part yank is used for Americans. Pommy for English etc |
