What do Australians call carbonated beverages?

Here in Canada we say 'pop' but in some places in the USA its called soda, or soda pop, or coke.

What is it called in Australia?

What is your favorite type?

thanks!

Here in Adelaide they're almost exclusively called soft drinks, or fizzy drinks if you're talking to a small child. Although that doesn't include carbonated alcoholic beverages like beer or sparkling wine. In cases where it's necessary to include all carbonated beverages, I suppose we just call them carbonated beverages.

I don't really have a favourite type. I use cola as a mixer (either Pepsi or Coke) but I don't drink much soft drink on its own. An interesting fact: in South Australia we drink three times more Farmer's Union Iced Coffee than Coca Cola, whereas all the convict states consume more Coke than any kind of flavoured milk.

Usually 'soft drink'. We don't say 'pop' and 'soda' means 'soda water' here. Also people say lemonade, orangeade, lemon squash. ginger ale, or cola, to describe those particular ones. We don't like Dr Peppers as a rule, it doesn't sell much over here and you hardly ever see anyone drinking it. What Yanks call 'root beer' we call 'ginger beer' . I think that about covers it. My favorite one is a cup of tea, I don't drink soft drink much, but my son likes Mountain Dew.

Soft drink, cool drink, or fizzy drink.
we call things by their names, so coke is coke, lemonade is lemonade, and dr pepper is dr pepper, etc. red creaming soda is my favourite, as well as ginger beer, as it helps with morning sickness

Usually we call it soft drink. Some people call it fizzy drink or fizzy cordial. Coke is coke.

EDIT:
What Americans call root beer is nothing at all like ginger beer - it's more like sarsparilla.
What we Aussies call lemonade is like 7up - not traditional American lemonade.
And what americans call beer is nothing like beer, it's more like bad tasting, dirty water...

We call it soft drink or fizzy drink. However, my favourite fizzy drink is beer, and that's not exactly a 'soft drink'.

We call them soft drinks. In clubs and bars you might ask for a soda though (a Club Lemon Soda for example for lemonade), but its not common elsewhere.

My favourite is good old lemonade.

I call it fizzy drink. Soft drink is also common. But a lot of the time we just call it what it is. Like "would you like a lemonade or coke or something?" My favourites are coke zero and kirks ginger beer. (different to American ginger beer). I also like passiona when I'm in a sweet mood (not sure if I spelt that right).

its called Soft Drink here.

Coke is probably by far the favorite amongst us, followed by Sprite, Fanta, Pepsi and Lemonade....and plenty more to choose from.

All have their Zero Sugar and 'Diet' versions of the drink too.

mandy trust me root beer is nothing like ginger beer its the grossest thing ive ever tasted

give me aussie ginger beer any day

overall title -soft drinks. in supermarkets they have soft drinks and mixer drinks. soft drinks are flavoured whereas mixer drinks are things like soda, tonic water. there is a really fine line as ginger ale, or dry ginger can can be in both areas.

my favourite - soda water flavoured with wine or coke flavoured with rum.

In the UK we call it Pop or sometimes fizzy, Ive heard them on 'Home and Away' (Australian soap) calling it Soda and Fizzy.

My Favourite is Lilt (its a total tropical taste), i used to loveQuatro but they stopped making it years ago.
