We call it fizzy or soft drinks, never soda unless it's actually soda water. Pop is a kind of music.

It's called soft drink because it's the opposite of hard liquor!

There are many Aussie slang dictionaries online but this is one of the best:

Soft drink is what we call soda pop here or you just say the name of the drink you want.

We usually just say whatever it is - like coke, fanta, sprite etc.

Other things for you to know:

Bangs (as in hair) we call a fringe
flip flops (as in shoes you wear to the beach) we call thongs
Thongs (as in underwear) we call g-strings
fanny (as in ar*e) we call bum

and awwwwww god dr pepper is disguisting! thank god they dont sell it here anymore!

Soft drink or use the brand name. All the major US brands are in Australia. Kirks is a good local brand. I like their lemonade.

soft drink and very rarley older people will call it fizzy drink. Not once have i ever heard anyone call it lolly water. Also lemonade isnt like solo or pub squash we call sprite and 7up lemonade. Soda is fizzy water. If you have anymore questions just email me.

Usually Aussies just call the drink whatever it is, i.e. Coke, Fanta, Sprite, etc..

We call is soft drink.. Its not even slang.. lol Or fizzy drink..

And dont go by the stereotype of what us Aussies say....Its not correct..

Pop is what we used to call flavoured fizzy drinks in England when I grew up.

Soda water is fizzy water, not generally flavoured.

Lemonade is Lemon flavoured fizzy drink.
Orangeage is Orange flavoured fizzy drink.
Cola is a vanilla, cinnamon, citrus and phosphoric acid flavoured fizzy drink (What exactly is Cola?)
