Canada and Canadians are generally looked on very favourably. There is an awareness of a shared Commonwealth history and that we have a similar kind of relationship with the US (although we are not such near neighbours.)
Also, culturally, Australia is probably more like the sot of things we hear about Canada ~ liberal democracy, state supported insititutions, British heritage with an acceptance of and tolerance for diversity.
People are laid back and the only drawback for Canadians might be that lots of Australians confuse Canadian and Americans accents! It does sound similar to us, but if you correct people immediately, they will respond with friendliness because Canada is well liked and popular here.
The term Canucks is not widely known or used, however ~ most Australians would simply say 'Canadians', so that might be some education you have to give new friends!
Hope you love Australia and enjoy your time here :-) |

I think we are very similar in fact when my parents immigrated here they had a choice between Australia where my mum wanted go and Canada where my dad wanted to go and my mum won the argument so we could as easily been Canucks.Which would of been ok but I do love Australia. |

Seriously I think you'll find most Aussies will treat you as they find you - be it good/bad/indifferent, as a person vs nation or culture |

I think in general it's a positive view that we hold. I've not heard many stereotypical insults like the Americans seem to hold against you guys. (Most of the ones I've heard are from people who've lived in the US anyway) I mean, we seem to have a lot in common with our history and all and have more in common than a lot of other countries too. Also, from experience, I think we get each others' sense of humour which is nice. (Minus some of the little things but hey, can't get everything) |

Canadians are cool. I ski there often, and like you guys.
However not many people will realise that the Canucks are a hockey team (And over here we call hockey ice hockey) |

I lived in Canada for a year and I love you guys. You'll find that apart from our climates we really do seem to be very alike and have so much in common.
Everyone loves the Canucks even moreso because they are not stupid Americans! |
