you should find a lot of information there. The chef used to be called the cook but the name has changed in recent years. They are responsible for feeding the people at the station which can number from 15-20 over the winter to 80-100 over the summer. They have to supply a range of food giving choices at each meal including a vegetarian choice if there are vegetarians at the station - which there usually are.

No local wildlife is touched, all food is brought in from Australia and the range of food is excellent. In many ways, the cook is the most important person on the station.

Well they would mostly cook but if you have no luck try switching and informing your teacher you switched when you hand it in.

They would cook to feed the scientists etc.
Like a chef/cook would do on a navy ship or some other remote location.

Are you trying to tell us, your teacher left the country and you haven't had a relief teacher?

I don't know so much about chefs but have a brother in law who has worked at Antarctica on several occasions. His job was to take the scientists out to do whatever they do on the ice in the scud do and then make sure they were safe and bring them back in after working. Will attach the address for a site which may help as this is the camp they worked at.

Chefs in the Antarctic are in charge of the weekly penguin hunt. Generally they ty to stampede the penguins towards a cliff.

Oh dear! Never ever think that something is going to be an easier option....invariably it isn't! As for your assignment.....how likely are you to get away with saying that the weather was so bad that the chef couldn't go outside and therefore couldn't see the landscape, weather, animals etc.,...!! Sorry, that's not the answer you were looking for is it! Could you ask for an extension on the assignment and request a different topic? Maybe your tutor will be understanding if you are honest with him/her. xx

chef's in antartica cook...they cook for seals, walruses, whales and themselves...they cook, cook, cook.......
