Politics: even though howard is a kiss *** to bush he he promised troops home for christmas and obliged, he pretty much keeps to his word and hasn't f****d us too bad.

Education: we have alot of help from the govt enabling us to seek higher education.

Tourism: not bad, interstate tourism has increased by 30% in the last 2 years so money is being put back into our country.

Lifestyle/People: like everywhere else there's the good and the bad.. we are generally laid back. I mean come on! we had a cricket team before we had a government.

Population: Well the govt want us to increase the population by saying and i quote "go forth and have baby's. Have 1 for mum, 1 for dad and 1 for the country" with a $4000 payment when that baby is born, not to mention the other numerous payment we recieve for having kids.

multiculturalism: Well we did put out that contraversial advert "where the bloody hell are ya?" to other countries, thus we promote other cultures to visit our country. From what i see there are alot of other races living here from all over.

I love it here.

Adam
For such a big country, I am surprised that the population is so small. Small but powerful. Everyone is friendly and laid back. I love it. Aussies travel more than any other nationality I have met around the globe. That is great. Howard's closest buddies are Blair in Britain and Bush in the US. I don't know about Aussie politics, though.

I'd love to visit one day.

Fuzzy Wuzzy
Ok

Howard - Little Garden Gnome of a man, loves George Bush too much
Politics - Don't understand them, don't get involved
Education - They have the same problems here that are elsewhere, being too many kids in one class (talking primary to high school). My kids go to a private school so the classes are smaller. As for uni, didn't go so don't know.
Tourism - Love it. Bring in people to admire, spend their $$$ and go on home to tell their friends about it and bring them over.
Lifestyle/People - I love my lifestyle, well mostly. Could do with working less. People are people all the world over. Good and bad in every society.
Population - I don't think about it much, except when I'm trying to park at the train station. Could do with some more train stations.
Multicultarlism - Love it. I have learnt so much from people of different races and beliefs. In fact - it has fed my desire to travel, and so I did.

I enjoyed answering your question!

it is off the indian ocean and here are aborigines there

angelchrome
I think it's alot like the US or Canada. A country only a couple of hundred years old (in this incarnation - all three countries came with aboriginal populations) and if you don't like the politics, they'll be wildly different in 10 years. It's probably a beautiful place to visit, has a variety of amenities for living (such as good universities) and the people are like people all over the world, they can only be evaluated as individuals.

Australia is the sixth largest country in the world. It's about the same size as the 48 mainland states of the USA and 50 per cent larger than Europe, but has the lowest population density in the world - only two people per square kilometre.

Beaches galore
Australia boasts over 7,000 beaches - more than any other nation.

Little beauties
Australia produces 95 per cent of the world's precious opals and 99 per cent of black opals.

Opal capital
Coober Pedy in South Australia is known as the opal capital of the world. Its population is made up of more than 40 nationalities and, with year-round extremes in temperature, more than 50 per cent of the population live in below-ground 'dugouts'.

Golden city
Kalgoorlie in Western Australia is not only Australia's largest producer of gold, but has the world's largest political electorate - covering a mammoth 2.2 million square kilometres.

Aussie icon
The kangaroo is unique to Australia and one of our most easily recognised mammals. There are more kangaroos in Australia now than when Australia was first settled. Estimates suggest around 40 million.

Merinos en masse
Australia's 140 million sheep (mostly merinos), found on around 53,000 properties, produce more than 70 per cent of the world's wool.

Beef exports
With 24 million head of cattle, Australia is the world's largest exporter of beef.

Flourishing flora
Australia supports at least 25,000 species of plants, while Europe only supports 17,500.

Long haul
The longest stretch of straight railway track in the world crosses the Nullarbor Plain. From Nurina in Western Australia to near Watson in South Australia, the track is dead straight for 478 kilometres.

Long drive
The Eyre Highway at Caiguna in Western Australia has the longest stretch of straight road in Australia - 148 kilometres. Crossing the southern edge of the Nullarbor Plain, it is the only sealed road from Perth to Adelaide, a 2700 kilometre drive.

Long fence
The world's longest continuous fence known as the 'dingo fence', runs through central Queensland for 5,531 kilometres. It is 1.8 metres high and is designed to keep sheep safe from Australia's native dog.

howard..funny lil man, has really ruined our country or economy...thanks keating, but is yet to improve it really...and being friends with the yanks doesnt count.

education...basically sound enough, im currently living in europe and it seems on par with most of them, uni's--yet to go to but lots to choose from, and relatively cheap.

tourism...is our life...we love tourists, always willing to help them out...

the people...well like i said im in europe atm, and i often miss how laidback aussies are, and how friendly, alot of cultures/countries are a lot more reserved whereas an aussie will be like hows it going mate, welcome to our country here have a beer!

population..i live in a state the size of the netherlands with a population of just under a quarter of a million i love it...enough people but not to many.

multiculturalism...we have it all...brits/irish.welsh.scottish from colonisation, americans and chinese from the goldrush of the 1800s post world wars refugees from italy, greece, eastern europe, and more recently from kosovar, sudam and asia.

you should all come here and visit us...you should!
