My little brother goes underground and fixes those great big round tunnelling machines. For that he gets over $300K per year.

He started off his working life as a car mechanic and then got a job a Leighton Contractors where he learnt to work on mining trucks, and he hasn't looked back since.

He's worked in Africa, Indonesia and Spain besides Australia.

If mining isn't for you, then just remember that almost every type of worker is in very short supply, especially in Western Australia, and you should ask at least $55K per year even for the least skilled positions.

Most big companies have moved their HQ's to Perth due to the economic boom. BHP will be moving to Perth in two years and there are a huge amount of white collar workers required as well as the trades people at present. I can only wonder how much BHP will be offering to try and get non-existent workers!

anything to do with the IT industry, programming, web development, SAP, SQL, Oracle, Linux, will give you an edge in Australia.

my cousin is in the IT sector in Melbourne and she's a millionaire (in Pinoy terms).

Forget about anything that has to do with IT. If you are a tradesman you can earn bucket loads. Same goes for a mine worker.
I am not sure how old you are but get a trade forget about anything else you will do well.
