"Out on the patio we sit
And the humdity we breathe
that certain texture that certain smell
we laugh and sing this is Australia."

I changed the lyrics a bit but I always think of this song when I think of Australia

I'm an Aussie and like to think beaches, laid back people and hot weather. My European friends think along the same lines. My American friends think all of the above but also think we have lots of large poisonous creatures. (ok so we do but people don't just get randomly attacked by them all the time)... oh and that we are soooooooo far away and a plane ride will take up way too much of their life.

From all I've heard, and from the handful of aussies that I know here, I think of it as one of the last places that I have never been that I really, really REALLY want to go to. Yes, there is a lot of wide open frontier there; that's part of the appeal. But great cities, nightlife, beaches & some of the best diving in the world as well. And certainly not least; some of the most beautiful women on the planet that have a great outlook on life, the universe & everything.

If you really want to go on a kangaroo ride? You may have to give me some lessons, but I'll do my best to keep up. I promise to buy ya a really nice dinner afterward!

I travelled to Australia & New Zealand for 3 weeks a few years back. I never wanted to leave! When I think of Australia I think of friendly people, fun, beauty and happiness! I understand the annoyance of the stereotypes...haha I'm Canadian and I definitely don't live in an igloo, or take a dog sled to work :)

Well I live in australia but a lot of my relatives and friends like overseas in europe and for some reason they wont come down to visit because they think that we have animals (kangaroos mostly) like as house pets and that live on the streets outside our houses and everywhere. They also think there are a lot of poisonous animals and desert.

I mean honestly - the only way us australians ever see kangaroos is if we go to the zoo. id be pretty shocked if i saw a kangaroo hopping past my house.
