Hobbit: Suck it up princess. We're all Aussies, who cares who was here first? The Aborignials weren't a collected group, they were 100s of indiviual groups scattered thruout Australia. Are you even of Indigenous descent?? I'm guessing not.
Australia Day means being proud of being who we are :) Spending time with friends, being proud of being one of the best nations in the whole world :D |

Crawl back under you rock Hobbit. No one wants to listen to you sook about how a land was taken by a white supremacy group. You must have exited the wrong side of the bed this morning, we don't support what happened to the Aboriginals nor how they were treated, we are enjoying the here and now. Unfortunately we cannot travel 200 years into the past and change what happened. I think Australia Day is a thankyou for such a great country too. |

Hobbit i am totally sick to death of exactly what you are saying. WHERE would the aboriginal race be without the Europeans? WHY do you constantly think about the past, 200 years ago, and blame us for what has happened?
I do not like what they did to the Aboriginies back in the day, but its not my fault, its not your fault, its nobodys fault. QUIT thinking about the past, and start thinking about the future.
Live as equals in this wonderful land, Nobody is better, nobody is worse.

And, australia day to me means thanks for being raised in such a lucky, beautiful country. we are truly blessed to live in such a magnificent country, full of scenery, wildlife and culture. I hope this year brings a more productive boost in australia. |

hey did you hear that the guy who was elected as australian of the year has proposed to move 'australia day' to a different date? because it is offensive to the aboriginal population to celebrate january 26 (as they see it as the anniversary of being invaded). apparently rudd's government and the opposition party rejected the idea though.
I LOVE AUSTRALIA, we are awesome. |

A day of reflection of how lucky we are to be in such a wonderful country. It is a day where we sit back and think of the values we have where other countries around the world do not get to enjoy while also having fun with friends and family. |

A chance to say thank you Australia for adopting an ex pom, now an Aussie. It is one of the best countries to live and grow in and all who love this land are welcome. As for the Aborigines, no matter what we give them they will never be satisfied and will never let go of the past. |

To me it is a reminder of when the Aborigines' land was taken from them unlawfully and thousands of years of history and culture was destroyed. It shows that people celebrate white superiority and they are proud that our ancestors did such a horrible thing. |
