ive seen pictures of australia it looks like it has some beutiful scenery and some nice things to see besides. I always imagined that australian people were just like british people with less tea and more of a tan and a slightly different accent.

I had the opportunity to travel to Australia once. Spent a February in Perth. I found Australia and its people to be absolutely wonderful. So much in fact that I have decided to move there permanently. Some of my best friends are Australian. Characteristics of honesty, integrity, friendliness and easy going nature were a welcome when compared to other countries I have visited (and I have visited many). I am originally from Canada and now live in the US, and I believe the world could take a lesson from Australia and its people. If they did we would all be better off.

Seems that it must be popular. Every Tom, Dimitri or Hahmed seems to want to come here.

Anything I read about the Australians is postive. They don't hate Americans, which is a big plus and they are leading the fight against the people who are whale hunting. I would love to come and visit their country some day. You live in ultra-modern cities, yet your outback is as wild a place as anywhere on earth. Your country has species of animals found no where else on earth. You are like anyone else on earth, you work hard, you live your life peacefully, and no I don't think you are all Crocodile Dundee's.

I am not Australian myself but lived there long enough to find out what Australian and Australians are really like. And I must admit I loved every second of it. The people are fantastic, very laid back but have a good positive attitude and work hard. It does really depend on where you live, I think the sunnier it gets the cruisier the lifestyle (I mean this in a good way). I think Australians are generally very helpful and affable by nature. The country itself is stunning and very varied. A shame there are not enough budget airlines so that people can travel more easily around the country.I think there is a great misconception about Australians and the Australian lifestyle due to what is shown on the media (kangaroos in the backyard etc). However most people I have spoken to are always very curious in visiting Australia and find it quite exotic. Although I have left Australia I truly believe it really the great southern land!

?
If it wasn't for the heat.. i'd spend the rest of my life there.

It looks like a stunning country. Laid back people. Cute Accents... Everything about It just seems amazing.

I'm French and I love Australia. Actually, I left everything in France to come to Australia as a student in November 2004. I'm going to apply for the Permanent Residency, I don't want to go back home. People are very friendly and open-minded (not arrogant or stressed), the weather is better than is France, Sydney, beaches, mountains, and so on ... are beautiful.
One of my brothers came and he thinks the same. And he's planning to move to Australia next year!

Hmm...I think Australians are carefree, cultured, either white or aboriginal. Cute accent. Every Aussie I've met is good looking. I think tan, lean, tall. Laid back. Polite. Happy. Decent people. Not political. Not very controversial. You don't hear about Australians very much in the news unless it's about Nicole Kidmen getting married or another movie star like Heath Ledger or something.

Oh you guys who have answered above me are sweet :)
I think that we are pretty laid back and friendly people in Australia so it's nice that others think that also
