What impresses an Americans more: "I am from Australia!" or "I am an American living in Australia now!"?

It's best to claim to be Australian, because Americans have a great respect and admiration towards them. If your just another American, then you will be treated as just another American!

Why are you so interested in impressing people? I'm an American and I've just arrived in Sydney on a 3-yr work visa. I'm excited, I love the idea of living in Australia for a while, but I'm not interested in trying to impress anyone. I am who I am no matter where I live.

By the way, stereotypical images of Americans and/or Australians are just that. Stereotypes.

what u talkin' bout?
well, what impresses me is when I hear that a person is from Australia. I LOVE THE ACCENT! I can usually tell right off anyway. Love the country down under! Wanted to also add that
I LOVED STEVE IRWIN! Sadly missed by this American.

Say from Australia. Im a Kiwi living in America and I'm sick of people asking if I'm from Australia, I sound nothing like an AUSTRALIAN!

I like Americans, but, I'm not sure I feel the need to impress them in the way you describe.

Be ur self, who cares???

I personally would think "I am from Australia"...simply because of the fact that that is much more exotic sounding than someone who is from here living there.

We know how americans are. We want to hear about someone who wasn't raised the same way as us :D

terry
I'm from Australia. Most Americans are rude.
