What is Kevin Rudd's immigration policy?

I live in the UK and want to come and live in Australia. I was wondering if there was going to be any changes to the immigration policy e.g. making it easier to immigrate etc.

Thanks

One area Kevin Rudd did say he was going to become much tougher and that is with The Boat People trying to come into Australia illegally. They will be turned right around and told to go back home.

From the Official Website of the Australian Labor Party.
ALP Policy
Immigration & Citizenship

1. Labor Will Contribute $1 Million To A Mirrabooka
2. Multicultural Centre For New Migrants
3. Labor Will Teach English, Not Just Test It

I doubt Rudd is going to overturn or radically change our immigration policy.

He mostly concentrated on Health, Education, Climate Change + Work Place Policies. And these were the topics he won the Ministry on.

Even though he portrayed Howard as the old fuddy duddy who was losing touch Rudd is still a conservative man.

I had a quick look around just now to see what I could find on what he might be doing (since I don't remember him talking about it much!) and I found one report saying that he won't be changing it. But this article also said he won't be doing anything RE indigenous Australians and I actually saw Rudd talking about officially saying "Sorry", so the report may be false.

It's day 1 after the election. You may have to wait and see for his party to get into the swing of things.

I doubt there will be any 'making it easier' moves in the near future ... if you have money or a trade/profession in short supply you might be accepted.

and the people who aren't ready to accept Rudd as PM had better get used to it - what a great victory!!

If Rudd follows Blair and what he did to the UK - it'll be easy as pie and the floodgates will open......watch out Australia - all who voted for Rudd will live to regret it!!!!

I hope it wont.

Who knows???

All I know for sure is that the Aussie public have got it horribly wrong, and that we're in for an extremely difficult 4 years under a Labour government. I'm not a Howard fan, but his track record is plain for all to see, our economy has never been so good as it has been under his leadership. Rudd will last one term only - wait & see

Are we all that stupid that we vote in a load of ex-trade unionists to govern our great nation?? Thank god I work abroad, that's all I can say!!!

What is his policy? Do you think he will stick to his pre-election promises?

He will be like all other Labor premiers, before him, & would have already prepared reasons & excuses for not going ahead with his promises.

Don't believe a word this bloke says. One does not change his spots overnight.

Oz will find that they have got the party they deserve.

I wish he would immigrate!

He has had a lot to say about the Lib gov't - now let's see how he performs. I can't see him changing much at all.
