I’ve lived here my whole life, and I think it is great! Perth is a great state to live in, the weather here is good nice dry heat in summer not to cold in winter.

I love that it is so peaceful, beautiful and laid back. The people are friendly, we have great beaches, wineries and sights in general. We have the hottest climate then in any other capital city in the world, closely followed by Adelaide and we have more hours of sunshine then any other city in the world.

Quite frankly, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

Check out this site for some great info

Hmmm... interesting question - which depends ENTIRELY on your perspective. I'm from Melbourne, and I really like Perth. The beaches are great, and the people are warm and friendly. HOWEVER... it's NOTHING like Melbourne. Talk about the wild, wild west!!!

Last time I was there, I stayed in Scarborough (Observation City), and let me tell you - when the miner's (from up north) came into town to have a good time and wind-down... well, let's just say it was something like a cross between living in the middle of the Indianapolis 500 and a rodeo. It got VERY crazy.

Next time I go to Perth... I think I'll stay in Albany! LOL

i just love reading the answers to these types of Questions!! i hope more come because everyone has such a different idea about Perth!! I might just give it a little star and hope that some of my contacts answer too!!

i live in Perth and have done so for the last 17 years or so. (apart froma stint of 18 months in sydney a few years back - WHICH I LOVED!!). Perth really is like a big country town in comparison to the bigger east coast cities. The CBD is quite small and pretty much no one goes there unless they work there. there is no night life to speak of and the shopping is the same or better at the bigger suburban centers. The beaches here are fantastic!! And the people are very friendly. i think that comes from the fact that we are a very isolated city so we we love anyone and everyone who comes here!! We are very sports minded peole. Though in recent years we have gotten more culturaly refinined as more of the bigger stage shows and things actualy come to Perth now rather than just staying over east. I think what we do miss out on are great SAFE night spots. Having lived in Surry Hills when I was in Sydney, where there are just streets of restaurants all around, we got a bit spoiled!! In Perth we have Northbridge - which I will not go as it is full of gangs and drugs and general crappy behaviour. Fremantle is great but as I live at the other end of perth, not very practical!! We have a few smaller areas which are OK but we really need to work on our entertainment districts!! We have the Swan Valley on our doorstep which is home to some worldclass vineyards as well as microbrewries, chocolate factories, icecream factories etc etc etc.

The weather here is great and really lends its self to our outdoors lifestyle. It an get hot in the summer, but you get used to that and buy airconditioners!!

Due to our size, it is very easy to get around. There are some great areas of public transport (except where I live!!)

I think Perth is great. I have two little boys and I think we are raising them in a great city.

I love Perth. My youngest son and family live there. Its climate is great, the public transport is the best. People are friendly, lots to see and do. Only downside, a bit expensive all round. Food, entertainment. Lovely Perth.!! Go see for yourself.

MorboWillDestroyYou!
Whilst not been the biggest fan of city living, it is a very nice place to live. Things are relaxed for a city and no one ever really seems to want to be doing things in a hurry. The beaches rock, the weather is the best of all Australian capitals, theres more than enough sporting events and festivals and touring bands that come this way. The people are pretty friendly generally.

It's not as impressive as the other Australian capitals but it's definitely nice for holiday makers. Great beaches, nice and quiet, great weather. Far from the massive populations of cities like Melbourne & Sydney.

Perth is a very nice city. It's different from the eastern cities, it's more laid-back and very easy to get around and it has got beautiful climate, more sunny days than any other cities in Australia.
