Sydney is a good place to live but like any city it can be lonely.
Its a bit up itself though, once you get used to it you'll love it though

If you like 20 foot fences all around the city with razor wire on top and liked being searched every minute and like armed guards on every street corner and not permitted to walk the city because some paranoid prime minister from america wants to have a holiday, apart from all that it was a gooooooood city.

But Why??
Ever seen that movie with Snake pliskin, played by Kurt Russell? Yeah well its like that.

I've only been in Australia for two months (I'm staying in Sydney), I can give you the impression I have.
Some background so you have context for my opinions: I was born in a very urban city, I moved to a rural-suburban area for a few years, and then to a suburb near Washington DC for most of my life.

Sydney is a big city, so it was definitely a change for me, though I've been to even more crowded areas. The public transportation is generally good enough for me, though I find it a little frustrating at time not having personal transport, but I tend to enjoy not having to drive as well.
There's quite a bit of activity 24/7, if you know where to look, and if you want peace and quiet, you'll be able to find some, somewhere.
The weather, as far as I've experienced, is fairly mild (compared to Virginia).
Ehh. Got any specific questions? Trying to answer "what's it like to live in Sydney" will require many pages of writing!

snow r
great...you need to ask more specifically what you are after

Sydney is one of the most multi cultural cities in the world. It has great beaches and friendly people.
