What is a fun and cheap day out for my daughter and me in Sydney?

Its the Summer School hols here in Australia. My family and myself have just moved to Australia only three weeks ago. Any tips for days out in Sydney, to help keep my ten year old daughter occupied over the five week Summer hols would be gratefully appreciated.

Darling Harbour, heaps of things too see and to, Taronga zoo is a bit on the Expensive side but its an all day thing.

The Powerhouse Meuseum in Ultimo is graet. I have not been there in a few years but when I was there, It was mostly all hands on stuff. I got to make my own fireworks (virtuly) and design my own car and check the News headlines on the Day I was born. Its so good but I dont know entry prices but it was not too bad (5 years ago).

Great day out and a learning experiance for the 2 of you. I am in Sydney every 6 months (I live just north of Brisbane) and I try to get to the Powerhouse Meuseum every time but I never get the time.

Go there. You will not regret it! and get there on the Monorail! (It goes through Darling Harbour!)

The Tarongo Zoo is a fun place - you can take a ferry across the harbor & the skyrail to the zoo, then take a leisurely walk around the zoo.

You should try riding a kangaroo because that seems pretty fun. If you could find one in the wild, it would be free. I'm not sure how expensive it would be to rent a kangaroo from a zoo to do this.
