The Lotterywest Skyworks is a fireworks show that is held over the section of the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia known as Perth Water. It is held every Australia Day on the 26th of January.
The amazing part is people will wait all day sitting by the river in the sun, queue for ages to use a stinky portaloo, be surrounded by drunken louts using offensive language, have to walk 3km back to where they parked their car and endure a long frustrating wait in a mega traffic jam to get home- all for just 30 minutes of fireworks! |

The reason Kangaroos are called 'kangaroos' is because when Captain Cook arrived, he asked the aborigines what kind of animal it was, to which they replied 'kangaroo'.
Unfortunately, kangaroo actually means 'I don't understand' in the aboriginal language!

An amazing fact about Australia Day is that an amazing number of West Australians go to Rottnest Island to celebrate it.
Attending the Quokka Arms & perving on the sheilas while enjoying a coldie! Swimming, sunbaking, camping in tentland, eating greasy takeaway food, hiring push bikes, ...... that's what's amazing about Australia Day.
I think there are some other reasons - but they're not really important when you compare them with the above list of activities! |
