Mrs M
Kiwi college.

Hi

High Schools are at the secondary schooling level and in most cases they will be called 'college' or 'high school'.

In a few cases you may see the schools with names such as Collegiate, Grammar, or simply School. But most schools will be called X College or X High School.

jennifer h
College or some say secondary school.

secondary school

Bingalee
There are many high schools in NZ. It will depend on which city you live in.It is usual to attend the nearest government school to where you live, but if you wish to attend a church or private school it will depend on which one you choose.

Dangerous
It's usually got the word 'college' at the end. Somtime's it might have 'high' on the end especially if it is unisex i.e. 'girls high'. Around Auckland some have the perculiar name of 'Grammer' and a few in the country are called 'Collegiate'.

Here's how you search for all the schools for the area you plan to live in, this site is a Government site re info on all public & private schools in NZ - http://www.tki.org.nz/e/schools

Search on the region you are going to live in. High school is called the following in NZ, secondary school, Grammar (usually this is a private school with high fees), College (we call High School "College" & we call what American's call College "University") and some schools do call it High School.

When you've found schools in your area, ask about them on here again, to see what people say. On this website, once you look up a school, scroll to the bottom & find "School Decile", the higher the decile the better the school (meaning they have high pass rates for exams so therefore you know the students are being taught properly & have enough teachers, etc so are therefore passing their exams). Also low decile schools (with a 3 or less) are generally in poorer neighbourhoods with high crime so you are more likely to encounter school bullying, violence, drugs, etc (although it's all pretty innocent here compared to the USA, kids don't take guns to school here!). We don't have security guards & metal detectors to walk through here!

College or high school. Like I go to Northcote College, but the school I was going to go to was Westlake High School. So yeah either one of those names.
