Thredbo in June.
Ok how about Sydney.
Venture over to the Northern beaches and rent a flat at Dee Why.
Then you can hit the beaches during the day and party in Manly at night.
Then go to Bondi Junction and rent there.
Then hit Tamarama to perve on the near naked beautiful people and play at Bondi beach next door. Then hit the pubs around Coogee for the surfers and Vaucluse Double Bay for the city party gals.
If you're at Bondi Junction you're on the trainline so get on it and go to the races on Saturday at Randwick. The main promotion is aimed for young Princesses to go to the racetrack. Everyone's in stiletto's! By the last race everyone is in full party mode. |

I don't think it really matters which city. I'm from Adelaide and we don't get a lot of travellers like they do on the east coast (brissy, sydney and melbourne) so you'd probably stand out more.
I dunno about getting bonus points for being in the military... being an Aussie in the army (or a digger) is cool though, we're patriotic about our country over here too you know. |

Australian women are going to take one look at your egos and fall over laughing.
We aren't easy and we aren't cheap, and we expect to be respected. Bring that sexist attitude down here and we'll kick your butt back to where you came from. |

I had a couple of mates like you guys. They were working at the US Embassy, in Canberra.
Young, fit, polite, accents, well dressed and great guys. Needless to say, they had loads of women chasing them.
Being Black guys may not be much of a novelty anymore in Australia due to the immigration of loads of Sudanese. Being American will put you at an advantage. |

You'll find Aussie women everywhere. Sydney's OK. The feel is more like New York or LA, so it might feel comfortable to you. Melbourne is more laid back and European in feel. Brisbane and Perth are both very laid back, more like big country towns. Not a great deal of interesting night life in Brissy, unless you are in the CBD. The Gold Coast is pretty good. Full of a lot of travelers looking for a good time.
Adelaide isn't too bad, but I'd say not what you are looking for. I can't speak for Hobart, as I haven't been there during a weekend.
For my money, I'd say Melbourne then Sydney were your best options.
Can't help with the hot spots, sorry. Haven't been out clubbing for years and I live in Brissy now. Best thing I can suggest is to stay at a back packers (you can get single rooms there). That way you will be surrounded by backpackers who know all the latest things to see and do and the staff are quite knowledgeable about places to go and see. They will know the latest clubs to check out.
As for being black, there is racism here, but as a general rule, Black Americans are quite welcome. And yes, there are quite a few women who will be really turned on by your accent and career. |

I don't know about the best for meeting women, but I worked at chipotle and kept talking to this australian dude from Melbourne.
He swore that Melbourne was so much better than Sydney because it's night life is more exciting. Have fun. |
