My top to-do lists in Aussie would be::::

The Great Barrier Reef:
World’s largest coral reef system, and on the World Heritage Site listed as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
http://www.gbrmpa.gov.au
http://www.barrier-reef-holidays.com Best bet is to do this from Cairns, North Queensland, http://www.welcometocairns.com.au

Uluru (or known as Ayres rock):
http://www.uluru.com
A large sandstone rock formation located in the Northern Territory of central Australia. It is listed as a World Heritage Site for its natural and man-made attributes.

The Gold Coast beaches and theme Parks:
http://www.theme-parks.com.au
So much to do, beaches are breathtaking, there's also Sea world, Dreamworld, Movie world and Wet 'n Wild.

Daintree Rainforest and Port Douglas:
http://www.daintree-rec.com.au
An award-winning world class interpretive facility that allows visitors easy access to this unique rainforest wilderness via boardwalk tours, a 23 metre high Canopy Tower, Aerial Walkway and comprehensive Display Centre.

Port Douglas is about a 50 min drive from Cairns city – worth it for the scenery!
http://www.portdouglaseguide.com or http://www.vcentres.com.au/port-douglas

The Whitsundays:
http://www.whitsundaytourism.com
A collective of continental islands of various sizes off the coast of Queensland, Australia, situated between Townsville and Mackay and some 900km north of Brisbane.

Moreton Island – Tangalooma:
If you want to go to a little island for a day trip or over-night Morton Island is wonderful - short boat trip out of Brisbane.
You can feed some wild dolphins at night!
http://www.tangalooma.com or http://www.dolphinwild.com.au or http://www.moreton-island.com

I would go to Melbourne and then get the ferry over to Tasmania from there.Have a great time.

Australia is a BIG place - as big as continental USA. The BEST place for you depends on what you like AND how long you can stay in the country.

We have climates ranging from hot tropics to alpine to temperate and landcape from rain forest, great sweeping plains, beautiful surf beaches (which goes around the whole continent), great moutain ranges and gorges and huge deserts.

Read up on it and work out what you want to see in the time you are here. To see EVRYTHING you need at least 3 months.
But do try to go to the REAL Australia - the outback - go and meet people and see the life on the land - that will be a great trip.

If you have the time, go to the Northern Territory, especially Ayers Rock & the Olgas. Spend some time around Alice Springs and the surrounding ranges & gorges. Thats the real outback, it is spectacular & will blow you away.

But anywhere you go will be great. It is such a diverse country.

Have a great trip!!

It depends what your interests are...but if you like hiking, the beach, the great outdoors, kayaking, action and adventure, then TASMANIA has it all and so much more....Cradle Mountain for bushwalking, Freycinet National Park on the East Coast at Coles Bay, the Capital city of Hobart, its northern rival Launceston with a natural gorge 5 mins from the CBD (gotta be seen to be believed). If you like drinking wine then TASMANIA is the place for you...vineyards and wineries all over...if you like Beer then TASMANIA is the place for you...Boags or Cascade (north or south)...both have lots of popular styles ... and tours of the breweries. The TASSIE DEVIL lives there...see the real thing at the Mole Creek Wildlife Park! Enjoy the PUBS and the Happy Hours .... the sights, sounds and tastes of TASMANIA...it's all Pure Tasmania. It should be one of the Natural Wonders of the World. See you there!

Sydney is cool with the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and landmarks like that. Also a lot to do around Sydney like the Blue mountains,Port Stephens (Dolphins),Hunter Valley (Wine). Even though i live in Sydney,I think it's a great place to visit!

Depends on what you like and how long you have. Remember that Australia is a 14 hour flight from LA so you lose a day just getting here, not to mention jet lag. Go to www.australia.com and troll around. Sydney's the most famous and lot's to do with great beaches, et al - if you're into diving, the Great Barrier Reef is a must - that's an all day trip via plane to get there from Sydney. Keep in mind that Australia is as large as the US with not much in the middle so long distances...but I love it here!

Queensland is where you need to be...the Gold Coast is great for tourists...the outback is as real as it gets and the Great Barrier Reef is the place to be.

Stop in at Bundaberg too...Rum is good.

The Great Barrier Reef is Australia’s number one attraction. Over 1,400 miles in length, the Great Barrier Reef is billed as the world’s largest natural feature. Consisting of thousands of individual reefs and over 600 islands, the Great Barrier Reef is best enjoyed if you dive or scuba. If you have seen video on Discovery or National Geographic of the GBR shot during a night dive, you have seen better than you will see from one of the tour boats or during a regular dive. Nevertheless, visiting the Great Barrier Reef is a “must do”.
The towns below are good starting points for GBR tours.
