AFL or Cricket, definitely.
These would be the most well known and played sports here.
Probably AFL more so, but cricket is still big here.

we have a few sports.
our main is footy AFL.
thats pretty cool and pretty much everyone follows it.
cricket is a big one with the guys in summer.
not so much the girls.
we have tennis some people watch that but not that much,
lots girls play netball and some watch it
some play basketball and watch it

but footy and cricket arew the big ones.

I play tennis and it's great and I also run. AFL is great to watch and a good team sport and then there's also soccer and rugby so it just depends on your skills and what you prefer. There are sporting clubs everywhere so there's bound to be one near you.

In my opinion the best sport played in Australia is Rugby Union. Go see a live game and tell me different if you can.

But as your avatar suggests, for females I would say Netball and even Soccer.Both are really popular team sports here. But like every where there is a wide variety including, surfing, tennis, squash, horse riding, swimming and well I think you get what I mean. It just depends on if you wish for a team sport and individual one, a summer or winter. There are also indoor sports. But do not be gender swayed, us girls are quite capable of more than what the boys think.

Anything on the beach is awesome even just for fun like beach volleyball or cricket, some places they have comps, its Australia, anything goes really :)

I'd go for AFL as the best sport, but it would be followed closely by soccer. You could play either of them, but it will probably be easier to find a female soccer team than a female AFL team though it depends on where you live.

My girls play soccer and it's an awesome game and great socially too.
