Australia is a huge country with many beautiful places in it,so i think it is really hard to give one destination it depends on your tastes and what you like doing.

some of my favorite places are pt douglas and cairns nth Q.L.D,tropical weather, access to great barrier reef, great scenery
just loved it up there.

sunshine coast Q.L.D just a great beach culture great weather.

gold coast Q.L.D,touristy but plenty of action close to theme parks, nice beach

melbourne, really chilled out city great shopping, food, bars, and
caffe scene, also sports mad if thats your thing, built around a port
not so much of the surf culture.

tasmania-get a car go across on the ferry and drive around the island, some parts untouched, cold but beautiful place with alot of history.

sydney-big city with some great beaches, fast paced with a good night life, hard to get around but fun place all the same

i didn't rate brisbane or adelaide nice but not my thing and only my opinion im sure to other people there great to.

sorry i didn't really answer your question, just to many to choose from.

It would depend on what you interprete as "best."
In Australia there is everything a tourist could ask for. Beautiful beaches, Tropical rainforest's, deserts, wilderness, snow fields, mountains, good fishing, fly river or ocean, wonderful people, clean cities, and very low pollution levels compared to Europe and Asia.
Whilst many may promote the Eastern Seaboard I think that some of the most breathtaking scenery is located in the South Western region of Western Australia. From Esperance to Albany, to Walpole Denmark, Pemberton, Busselton, Bunbury. Then North from Perth to Geraldton at the time the wildflower season is in bloom. On the way is Yanchep and then Monkey Mia where you can swim with Dolphins, visit spectacular lime stone caves,.

Newcastle for sure!

Wilcannia is worth a trip. You won't see any place like it eleswhere. Bourke is good also. And then go to Queensland. Paradise!

Hi from France !

It only depends of the people, for certains it's ex : Brisbane, for others : Sidney etc....

Have a nice day,

Cat.

Sydney is great for a busy holiday bc soooo much to do - good shopping, restaurants, bars, nightlife, beaches, entertainment, the rocks, opera house.

Queensland is also great for a layed back beachy holiday. It also has a few popular theme parks - Movie world, wet and wild.

Australia is a great place to visit, and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself in most places.

Except one word of advice don't bother going to Oz's capital Canberra. Too many politicians and sheep.........lol
