Tahini Raving Weirdo

What is the most romantic place in Australia for a holiday?

We are thinking about spending Christmas this year in Australia. We live in New Zealand, and while I'm looking for exotic vegetation and animals, my wife would probably prefer a place with historic buildings and nice shops and restaurants and cafes, and wellness hotels with pools and the likes.
What would be a good place to go?

Go to Tasmania - the weather will be great that time of year and you can see so much in a short amount of time.

Port Aurthur is amazing, if you want to go somewhere historical.
But Tasmania will have everything else you need aswell...Romantic, hilltop locations, nice restaurants, quaint villages, nice hotels...there's heaps to see and do.

1 hour north of Sydney is the beautiful central coast, we have the Reptile Park were you can cuddle a Koala, picknick with Kangaroo's & Emu's ect. Lots of beach's & the lake. health resorts ect. On the Hawkesbury River you can hire a houseboat & fish between the oyster farms & so much more. visit www.central coast tourism.au

I am also a Kiwi living in Melbourne now. I highly recommend Daylesford in Victoria which is 2 hours drive north west of Melbourne.

Hit The Road
Clare Valley in S.A is nice. You'll find tranquility as well as amenities there. It really is a good spot for couples.

Wellness hotels ?? lol. Australia is one big wellness hotel mate.

Port Douglas fits all your description there !
Go to http://www.cairns.com.au/visitor-information/destinations/port-douglas-&-mossman-guide.html for heaps of info.
Tropical lifestyle all year around, fine resorts, spas, boutique shops, galleries. Weekend markets. Sail & snorkel the reef while there.
Experiance breakfast or lunch with the birds/lorrikeets at the Rainforest Habitat wildlife sanctuary. http://www.rainforesthabitat.com.au
Not far away is the world hertiage Dainetree Rainforest. http://www.daintree-rec.com.au
Port D is about 50mins by car from Cairns. Theres also plenty to do and see in Cairns itself, the Cairns Highlands and surrounds if you want to spread your trip out to Cairns, Port D and the Daintree area.
See http://www.cairns.com.au/visitor-information/cairns-maps.html for maps on the region.

Oh and if you want something really different and romantic, stay for a night or two in a tranquil rainforest villa - at the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa http://www.daintree-ecolodge.com.au/ Check out the photos, amazing!

hay im just sayin i sort of think that the outback in australia is AMAZING and you come across some of the most beautifull sensery there is in there world there are lots of great swimming places and awsome beaches all around the place for fishing, swimming and camping also if you feel like a night in a holtel you could just and find one and cafes are everywhere. But thats just me but i think its romantic and amazing. p.s it might take a while to see everything. Anyway wherever you pick to go have alot of fun and i wish you the best of luck.

Gold Coast.

Many opinions and you have to choose. I would prefer the West Coast, but that is your decision.
