Last January in Sydney we had a day that reached 46 degrees celcius (which works out to be 115 degrees farenheit) but even for Sydney in the summer this is still quite rare.
As many people have already said, Australia is an enormous country and weather varies greatly. In Australia during summer it would be hot, humid and wet in the tropics, hot and dry in Central Australia, warm and sunny with afternoon thunderstorms in the temperate lattitudes like Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne and cooler but still relatively warm in Tasmania. As with any large country, there are many variations both from region to region and day to day.
Sydney gets some major thunderstorms in the summer, but to say that happens all the time would be generalising. Likewise to say that it is always hot in the summer in Sydney. If you get a southerly buster as us Sydneysiders call a southerly wind from Antarctica, then that particular day will be intolerably cold and windy and wet.
It's safe to say that you'll be okay packing t-shirts and shorts if you come to Australia during the summer. But weather is unpredictable anywhere in the world, so there are no guarantees. |

Varies, depending on where you are. Generally its hot all over but down south there will be some milder days. Tasmania is cooler than the mainland. Summer clothes with a jacket/pullover for cooler evenings would be all you would need. Bring shorts and swimwear, a hat and sunscreen, and insect repellant if you plant to travel "outback". Predictions for this coming summer 2006/2007 are for lots of very hot weather, and no rain. |

Wherever you go - it will be hot. Maybe not all the time, but get prepared to sweat! The further north you are, the more humid it gets.
Have fun..... |

Pretty much HOT all over except for down south in Tassie which will be warm but mild......i'll give you an idea, yesterday and the day before it was 36- 38 celsius which according to my converter is 96.8 to 100.4 fahrenheit......on wednesday it is expected to be 30 celsius which is 86 fahrenheit and it is only october....last year on New Years it was 46 celsius at Bondi (114.8 F)....and this year it is expected to be the hottest summer ever recorded... i live just south of Sydney on the coast. |

Australia is a huge country, the size of the continental US. The weather in the north of the country will vary drastically from the weather in the south in any given season. You need to be more specific with your location within Australia. |

Really depends where you go. During the summer, which is the opposite seasons that we have in North America, runs from December to February it can get up and over 40 degrees celcius. They measure their temperature that way. Parts of Northern Queensland and the outback and probably the hottest places during the summer. As far as a major city like Sydney, it can get scorching hot and dry there as well. |

I think that the waether is nice in a few places and boiling in others... if you are planning to come to Australia for summer, make sure you won't be here between Jan- Feb. It's as hot as hell!!! And I actually love warm weather...but it's very hot here over summer. |

Depends where you go.... the climate in Australia varies alot with location just like it does in the USA.
If your talking about Sydney...... Sydney is usually very hot and dry although the weather flunctuates alot one day it may be 100+ and the next it may be 65. |
