September is spring in Sydney. Weather in September is usually unsettled and unpredictable. Temperatures are cool to mild. |

Well it is actually spring in Australia In september.
The heatwaves are about normal september weather.Sept is Warm (between 24-28c max) and dry. it has cooler evenings (17-19c on the coast). it is usually the best of the mild weather which is why the Olympics were held in September.
The only thing to add is that September is also the month of the chilly Westerly winds. Whilst the city is relatively sheltered from these, anyplace on or by the water can be very chilly when these blow, even when the still-air temps are very pleasant. Make sure you take a windcheater/coat when you go out on the water or by beaches. The winds can blow up very suddenly.
Hope this helps!

It's changeable. Take summer stuff but make sure you also have a sweater and long pants because it can get very cold. Enjoy one of the world's greatest cities! |

You are planning to go over in the first week of spring, so the cold from winter might still be hanging around. Last year the winter weather went well into spring but fingers crossed it wont for you.
In sydney you can do the harbour bridge climb, check out the zoo, the aquariam, the IMAX theatre etc. Its not too bad. There are quite a few beaches aswell, just depends if its too cold to swim etc.
You may wanna consider also going to the Gold Coast in the state above (Queensland) if money is no problem, they have the Great Barrier Reef (the largest reef and most beautiful in the world) along with 5 or 6 amusement parks and the beaches are better up there...also it is warmer there than in sydney.
They also have a big banana plantations up there and you can see this giant banana (icon) and check that out if you are into that kinda stuff. |
