1. The economy is booming, anyone who really wants a job can get one.
2. The Sheffield Shield cricket is back (and the sponsor isn't going to claim naming rights).
3. Our guys are coming home from Iraq.
4. If you bought your home before the boom, your home is now worth double what it used to be.
5. Our new prime minister isn't in bed with the American president.
6. We aren't wondering if the taps will run dry this year.

The sun is shining. The birds are singing. I own my own house. I have a job. I can speak openly. I am not living in fear. I love my children. My children love me. It's a GOOD life..

Being a kiwi who resided in Brisbane for two years, and having been back in New Zealand for 5 months, I find it laughable that you can't just look out your window and see something to smile about and be thankful for. I miss things about Australia, the good working conditions, a strong and ballsy government, good schools, good weather, and to a lesser extent, hearing lorikeets out my window and lizards climbing up my walls.
New Zealand at present, is bitterly cold and raining for two weeks solid, it's small and depressing.
Perhaps you need to come out of your own self obsessed little world and see that you are so lucky to live in Australia. Come on, you're living in one of the best countries in the world!

U Look Fat on tv

That we live in the best country in the world and where I live we have had great winter rains.
Also that our athletes are about to do themselves proud in Beijing whether they win a medal or not we will watch them with pride.
Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.

The rain is filling our waterways we live in a beautiful country the people are community minded we have good social security though the old age pension needs to be increased and the majority of people are friendly and open ethnic diversity expands our minds ...i think aussies glasses are far more than half filled dont you ?

We have a decent health system, good employment opportunities, great weather and good friends and family. Yes - there are plenty of bad things in Australia - but trust me - there are worse situations overseas - just take South Africa for example. And at least our skies are blue (unlike the brown sky you see in LA). And it isn't flooding like in NZ (at least not where I live - in Brissy!) Just a few things to keep you going....

My son is marrying a beautiful girl there very soon

Try the fact that we are Aussies and we do live in "The Lucky Country".

Everything that we do, we do because we have freedom, things that we say - we have freedom of speech, so many things - all taken for granted.
I wouldn't want to live any where else. Have a look at some of the comments on Answers, have a read on the Internet of things happening around the world and appreciate that they are not happening here. I'm in Adelaide and it is currently raining, with storms forecast, but I don't care. I'm in Australia and thats all that counts!
And I'm smiling!

The fact that Asians and indians are rotting away this great country... wait- that's a bad thing.

Ah well, spose there's nothing. Only asians and indians as far as the eye can see... as soon as i can afford it i'm ditching australia and i honestly cannot wait

yahwhoooon
Well its still the best country in the world to live in but I loved it a lot more in the seventies, now we are being overun with Asian, Muslim, Sudanese migrants, they are bringing so much violence to our streets, more drugs, crime, it really doesnt feel like Australia anymore but from what I gather the same thing is happening to Germany, France, England, New Zealand etc etc ,
