From what I've heard Vegemite is pretty universal, but here are a few others:
Violet Crumble
Tim Tams
Meat Pies (the Australian kind)
Endless tourist paraphernalia (crap)
...that's all I can think of! |

Melbourne combines things from everwhere else in the world into the one place. Besides, Melbourne is more european than American. I doubt you could catch a tram to watch the superbowl in an irish pub, then go out for a pot and parma in too many places. Melbourne is unique, but not because it has much of it's own, more to do with what it can blend together and make work. |

Alf footy, where they don't wear a mattress around them to protect their steroid ridden bodies. not as may fat people but we are catching up, thanks macca's, not as many people saying dumbass but we're catching up, like like like in every sentence but we're catching up, hey we're almost like them but that's what they want so Melbourne and to that matter Australia, speak Aussie not American, lets not lose our culture all together to this ever consuming nation. not as silly as it sounds teach your kids about our history, our words, just be Australians. |

Its a dumbarse question - how can you compare a city with a country ?
With a population of over 260m (USA), it has enough different cultures and a massively diverse range of products, that you could virtually find a city that was as similar or as different to Melbourne that you wanted. |
