Life in Sydney is wonderful. Great weather, friendly people,
very relaxed way of life. I have spent a lot of time in the US and found that mostly things are more expensive in Australia,
Especially cars, electronic stuff, beer, gas AKA petrol... $1.20 per litre which = $5.00 a gallon.
Plenty of jobs.
Good luck.

Jules
go for it. I lived in Melbourne (used to go to Sydney all the time) until i was 22, and i miss it so much. Its beautiful, there is no place like Bondi Beach Isn't that what student loans are for. Hope you go for it!!

it's pretty expensive in da city as tourist pay da money your better of living suburban streets much cheaper

job opportunities are good in kings cross

but seriously not many jobs as we immigrate people from all over the world to work even the aussies are finding it hard but if you are a foreigner you will have a job no worries

make sure you have a work visa

Well i believe it is cheaper then in the US(i'm assuming your living in america). US dollar is higher up then the AUS dollar, great quality of life, nicer people(supposed to be), and cleaner air. But you will have to get used to driving on the left side of the road.

COL in Sydney is cheaper than places like London or other parts of Europe. There are many overseas students working here part time. If you have the right attitude, you'll find work and accomodation can be shared with other students. That makes it way more affordable.

Sydney is hectic and expensive. But good to sow ya wild oats if ya got them.
Melbourne is hectic and same deal as Sydney plus good dining and theatre.
Brisbane beautiful one day perfect the next. Lot slower pace than Melb and Syd. Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Moreton Bay. Straddie.
Perth (very windy) but Cottesloe and Freemantle nice place to visit. (have huge lobster legs at the wharf)
Darwin (bloody hot and watch the crocs and they have big beer bottles.
Adelaide (sharks) churches, sin and the Barossa Valley Vineyards
Hobart (freezin in Winter) Bicheno, nice place
forget Canberra.

Life is what ya make of it. Friendly bunch we are. Very outdoor orientated. Do not like people coming here opposed to our way of life and try and impose theirs on us....not a good thing to do.

Good Luck with your studies.

I haven't lived in Sydney for over 15 years, but I hear from family it ain't cheap, as for job opportunities I suppose it depends on what field of work you are looking for. One thing though before I go make sure you visit The Sunshine Coast in Queensland, where The Crocodile Hunter comes from. It's just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FABULOUS!
you will love it- great wining, dining, weather, people, beaches, shopping... it is a bit expensive though, but you would have the time of your life. and sydney uni is stunning.
