Hi!

I lived in Sydney for 10 months last year and I really envie you going there. Sydney is a great city and there's always something happening there. If you're going in July-August it's gonna be winter there and I found the winter colder that what I imagined it to be, so make sure you bring some warm clothes.

What to do in Sydney? Well, you have to go to all the obviouis places like the opera, bondi beach and the aquarium.

But there's a lot of other things to do in sydney as well. My favoritt thing is to walk from Manly to the Pitt. Take the boat from Circulare quai to Manly and from here, you can walk all the way to The Pitt. This takes from 3-6 hours depending on how fast you walk. This is a beautiful walk that takes you through the forest on the north side of Sydney. You get an amazing view of the city and discover paintings from aboriginals on the grown. When you get to the Pitt, you just take the bus back to the city.

An other walk that I love is the coogee to bondi walk. This walk takes about 1-2 hours and takes you all along the ocean between coogee and bondi. the view is breathtaking!

Both coogee and bondi are very nice places with a few shops and cafées. try Nick's at Bondi. Really good food.

If you'll be in Sydney for over a month, you should also spend a day at Manly. A beautiful beach on sydneys' north shore. very cozy with a great party life at night.

I would also recomend to take the 1 hour long bus ride to Palm Beach. This is where they film Home and Away, so if you're lucky, you might get to see some Aussi stars!!

The best place to go shopping is definetly Bondi Junction. A big shoppingcenter that has all the shops you need. Just make sure you don't spend up all you're money.

In the city you have stores as well, but they're the same as the ones' you'll find at Bondi. In Chinatown they have a big market . paddington market. (www.paddingtonmarket.com.au) here you'll find really cheap stuff. everything from jewleryes to food and clothes. It's really fun!

Going out to eat? Go to darling harbour (www.darlingharbour.com.au) you'll find all kind of restaurants and most aren't to expensive. In darling harbour you'll also find the aquarium and the maritim museeum. both worth a visit. The IMAX cinemas is also located in darling harbour, but I went twice, and never really liked it, so I don't recomend it. An other thing that's really nice in darling harbour is the beautiful chinese garden. It's a peacefull garden with flowers and fish and it feels just like beeing in china!

Other things to visit in Sydney, is the botanic gardens just by hyde park. You'll find strange looking plants, parrots and big scary bats!! and not to far from cirqular quai, you'll find the museum of sydney. A really interesting museum that shows how the "young" city has tremendlessly developped over the last years (www.hht.net.au/museums)

A must when you're in Sydney is to go to the Rocks. On the left side of Circular Quai, you'll fin this old area, that is now mostly hotels, bars and shops, but has keept the old buildnings. Go on a saturday, cause then they have a market.

The last thing I recomend you to do while in Sydney is to visite Tarango Zoo on the North Shore. A beautiful zoo, where even the animals have a great view over Sydney.

You also have to walk on oxford street, take the train to blue mountains, visite queen victoria building and walk down george street at 17.00, when it's so crouded, you'll find it hard to breath!!

Also, make sure you buy lonely planet - Australia before going. It was my "bible" when I was there...

Sydney is such a great place. You're gonna love it!!
