What skills are being sought out by Australia?

considering immigrating from the USA and I have read that it is near impossible to gain citizenship without having certain needed skills & sponsership. How does one get "sponsership"?
Are Americans well accepted there?

Look on the Australian Embassy website,it will tell you the different ways you can enter Australia on a permanent basis. My husband got into Australia on a Spousal visa and we put our 3 children on the same visa.We have a good friend also from Ireland coming in 2 weeks on a Skilled visa, and he is a carpenter, and we have another friend who is coming next year and l will be sponsoring her.To be able to sponsor some one,you have to earn a certain amount of money,as the person you will be sponsoring will not be able to go on unemployment benefits for the first 2 years. They will be able to work, but if they can't find work, the sponsor has to support them until they find a job.I hope l was of some help.

there is a point system and many different types of visas. For a young educated man or women who speaks English it shouldn't be hard. Specific companies need specific skills, how ever generally nursing and anything in mining is in demand.

here is the government site with more info

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/index.htm

this site has lots of links

Americas are accepted though you will be taken to task for Bush and Iraq.....but you voted him in.
However due to the gun laws no one will shoot you. Other than the occasional fool it will be a plus being American rather than a negative

Australia definitely has a skill shortage at the moment and it is for trades - builders, plumbers, mechanics, electricians etc.

A lot of Aussies are not happy about the Government offering these places to Asians and not giving other Aussies a chance.

I have no problem with Americans so if you have a trade, come on over. Just be nice...

My family in Australia insist that anyone involved in Web-design or most things IT related are highly sought after.

For sponsorship you may need family over there, or to have what they consider a skill - which might not necessarily be as difficult as you think, if you have any type of job experience it is always a possibility.

Americans are well accepted in Australia, you'll maybe suffer a few light hearted jokes in bars or whatever, but certainly theres no hostility towards the Americans.

Before you consider migrating here, you should first come for a holiday...an extended one if possible and see things at first hand.

If you still want to migrate then there are websites that help you determine your 'points suitability' for free. Try typing 'migration to australia' in Google and see what you get.

Sponsorship for a visa usually requires an Australian citizen to 'sponsor' you. It is an easy and straight-forward thing to do ... providing you know an Australian citizen.

There are many job shortages in the labour industry, jobs such as - Nurses, mechanics, plumbers, electrictians, doctors.
Australias very muliticultural and people from any place in the world are accepted and welcomed into the community.
Check out - http://www.immi.gov.au/ - it has lots of information on migrating to Australia.
Hope it helps! :)
