In reference to your mention of 2 islands...I'm guessing that the answer you seek is New Zealand.
Of course, Tasmania is also an island and is located to the south of mainland Australia.
There are also several much smaller islands located in Bass Strait.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers :)

New Zealand is probably the answer you're looking for, but it could also include Tasmania.

There are dozens of islands off the southeast coast of Australia depemding how you define the southeast coast. Lord Howe and Norfolk are more easterly than southeast depending on your point of view. King and Flinders and the other Bass Strait islands would qualify as would Tasmania, Bruny and Matsuyker. Even Macquarie Island with its accompanying Bishop and Clerk and Judge and Clerk could be considered.

Either - you are doing your geography homework and don't know how to google up a map or you are being very funny.
There are many islands on the south east side of Australia -such as Gabo Island and Montague Isalnd. IF.. you are talking about Australia of course.
New Zealand is another country!

Maybe Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island?

Hahaha i like the New Zealand answer their "North and South" Island. The New Zealanders would be incredibly offended by that ! But their like a part of Australia anyway, its actually Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island, both Australian. Tasmania is further south and a State of Australia.

Could it be possible that you are refering to New Zealand's two big major islands (North Island and South Island)?
